Well after placing the phone into debug mode and it not being recognized, I've decided to reset the phone and whatcha know, the phone and the unit started talking and it started working. I can access maps, calls and music without issues.
Thought it would help someone, I know its a drastic change, but at least it gives you an alternative to NOT using the awesome features of Android Auto!
