I tried connecting my Samsung Note 5 with Android Auto installed to my 2016 Honda Accord EX; it connected successfully once but haven't been able to reconnect and I am kind of getting frustrated. :(
Any help will be much appreciated.

I'm using the same setup so it can work. I'm running Marshmallow on the Note 5 on Verizon with all the latest updates of Google and AA.

I know this is an overused suggestion but here goes anyway...are you using the cable that came with the Note 5?

Another thing, are you changing the USB connection to MTP?

Yes, I am using the same USB cable that came with my Note 5 (on T-Mobile); I am running MM as well and the USB connection is set to MTP. It worked once and stopped working afterwards. Perhaps the cable issue? I have ordered an USB C compatible cable from Amazon. Will keep trying.

The new cable should do it. I was having no end of problems until I used a new cable. Now it connects regularly with little effort.

If only I could figure out how to make MTP the default selection when connecting it would be seamless.

Which cable did you purchase and from where. The cable I use came with my Note 5. It works fine but it's long. None of my other cables which are shorter connect so I stayed with the long one.

On the Note 5, Verizon's Marshmallow upgrade, and Google and AA upgrades the AA just launches. I no longer have to change to MTP. AA launches
right after connecting the cable. IMO, Honda did a great job with it's unit.

You have to enable developer options in settings. Search the site for instructions to do so. Then you can establish a default connection method to MTP upon connection.

USB C? correct me if I'm wrong but pretty sure the Note 5 doesn't have a USB C connection

At the end it didn't require changing the USB cable; simple Developer and MTP enabled and USB debugging (was somehow enabled) disabled , it started working..and now connects to Android Auto everytime I hook up the phone! Thank you mates for your responses.
