My note 8 worked fine and my moto z2 force worked fine, now my note 9 not so much. Can use it just fine for calls and audio streaming via bluetooth but this is what happens when i connect the usb cable. Any help? The radio is whatever comes with the 2018 Hyundai Sonata. Thanks in advance.

The radio's USB connection is for mp3 players. That means one storage place and files in the root of the device, or folders with files in the root of the device. It's not made for a smartphone. (I really wish they'd get rid of that in car audio systems - how many people buy mp3 players these days?)

You could just set USB (in the phone) to Charge Only (or whatever Samsung calls it), and the radio won't see anything plugged in. But the charging rate from a connection like that is usually pretty low - a car charging adapter would give you a higher charge rate - and a faster charge if it's Quick Charge 2 or better. (These days you can get a QC 3 for about the same price. If you wait a little longer, you'll be able to get a QC 4 fo not much more, and be set for years.)

Android Auto worked with a Note 8 a few weeks ago. I broke that phone and got a Note 9 and it will connect and everything works for a few seconds to a minute or two then the phone disconnects and the HU reads "to use Android Auto, please stop your car and check your Android phone." Reinstalled app, cleared cache multiple times and using new samsung factory charger.

Under Developer Options - USB Configuration - I changing it to "charge only" but the phone would automatically switch it to "transfer files" which disconnects the phone. I can reconnect by swiping down and changing USB setting from Transfer files to "charge this phone" or "connect to a MIDI device" but shortly after, it switches back to "transfer files".

The HU is a Pioneer MVH2400NEX which is pretty much useless without phone connectivity...
Any other suggestions on preventing the phone from switching USB configurations?

Thanks

Did you complete the set up when you were fully stopped? I had that happen to me and it was because I had apparently not completed the set up. So I had to complete it again when I was stopped.

My Sync system in my Ford Flex has updates from time to time. Have you checked for possible updates to the system?
