Android Auto issues

My wife is not having any issues with AA and her S26U. Here is our setup:

Car: 2020 Toyota Rav4 XLE
AA Connection: Wired
Settings: We have AA set up to start as soon as it is plugged in.

Details: By default, AA does not start when plugged in. The cars infotainment center comes on and that is what we see. In AA, there is a setting to auto-start AA when plugged in. This does not always work, but we have not had any issues with AA wired since the upgrade.

Settings > Search for 'Android Auto' > Click Android Auto > In the Startup section >
  • Start Android Auto Automatically - Set to Always
  • Start Android Auto when Locked - Enabled
  • Start Music Automatically - Enabled
Everything else we left at Default

This is how I have my Fold 7 set up as well and never had any issues.

note: The Start Android Auto Automatically, at least on our car, is hit and miss. About 90% of the time it does, but sometimes it sticks on the default Infotainment screen.

I have a 2025 Jeep Grand Cherokee limited. I connect to AA wirelessly. my android auto starts automatically thru my infotainment system but if I want to listen to music on my phone the S26U i have to stop AA. I can't listen to music on my phone and AA. Could I have both if I connected to AA wired instead? Anybody know.

The only issue I have with AA is that when it connects I have to hit the android auto button on my '24 Subaru Outback screen to get it switch to the AA screen, music plays fine though. Which is probably just some setting I need to turn on somewhere that I haven't had time to dig into.

Sounds weird and I don't think it'll make a difference for you if wireless AA or wired. You should be able to listen to music from your phone at your vehicle's head unit via AA wireless or AA wired. And, listen to music at your phone regardless of if it is connected to AA wired or wireless. The only thing I've in the past noticed not being able to do on the phone when connected to AA is maps. For me, that never used to work at the phone (irrelevant of AA wired or wireless), giving me a message saying only available via the connected device when AA is connected. Perhaps your experience has something to do with the music player App you use on your phone?

There should be a setting in your vehicle's head unit (and in the AA settings on your phone) about start AA automatically. See the other reply by Talderon a few posts ago. Not sure if that'll help for your situation but probably worth a try.

I have AA built in to my Pioneer stereo it's wired. Mine starts when plugged in and I listen to music from my phone. I use you tube music or Amazon. But mine's not a built in infotainment. My husband's is and he listens to Spotify he has a Mazda CX-5 and is wired.

Didn't notice any issues with Android Auto with 2025 Mazda CX-50 Hybrid. Actually much quicker connection now.
