Android Auto - Map Direction Box Too Large

I have a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee with the latest AA app on both the phone and car.

On AA and using the Google Map app, the direction box takes up too much of the screen.

When I am not navigating, the dialog box is collapsible to a very small percentage of the screen.

However, when I am navigating with the Google Map App, the direction and options box takes up ~40% of the available screen turning my nice big screen into a small screen.

The Waze App direction box only takes up 25% of the screen.

Is there anyway to reduce the size of the direction box while using G Maps?

Not without rewriting the app.

Unfortunately, that is what I thought, but hoped that I was missing something.


Then for any AA Developer that may be monitoring this forum, please rewrite for the next update to minimize or reduce the Direction Box to maximize the available screen area for actually seeing the map. See Google Map App for Apple Car Play for iOS13
