Android Auto no longer launching on Pioneer AVH-4100NEX / Nexus 6

I had it say this also, I finally grabbed my work iphone 5s and plugged in port 1, then the pioneer operating screen came up. I then disconnected the iPhone and then plugged the note 4 into port 2, instant detection and android auto pulled up.

I have the same issue, USB port 2 does charge my phone but no longer acts as a DATA TRANSFER PORT, only charges. I've changed the cable directly in the back of the unit several times with original Samsung cables, with no luck.

My unit used to work perfectly with AA on my S7Edge, but on friday my cable got broken and the unit stopped working with AA since then... I really hope the USB port didn't get broken *sighs*

Any ideas???

Removed the head unit, tried a usb flash drive with music... It didn't get recognized also. I only got power out of usb port 2.

I doubt anything is wrong with my usb cable, or the usb extension cable that came with the 4100NEX unit. I tried uninstalling the andriod auto app on my Nexus 6, and reinstalling it, however that solution did not work. My connection from my Nexus6 to andriod auto worked flawlessly before. This may have occurred after a recent May 2016 software update on my Nexus6. The latest firmware update for the 4100NEX is (ver 1.05) which was release since Dec 16, 2015. I'm going to check and see what version i have currently on my deck. Are you able to update with the same firmware version? Is this advisable? I want to try this possible solution (updating firmware)

Did your phone get a May 2016 update recently? I think this may have caused my problem.. But i'm not sure. Gonna try firmware update, if someone thinks it's a good idea. I already tried re-installing the andriod auto app on my nexus6.. Let me know if you find a solution. Thanks..

Hi there,

I have a HTC 10 Running 6.0.1 and a 8100NEX running 1.05 firmware. The app would start on the head unit and shows connected and everything, but it would freeze after a few seconds, sometimes a black screen. The rest of the head unit functions work normally.

I've tried:
-emptied cache partition
-resetting my phone twice through bootloader
-turn on developer option of USB debug and USB as MTP
-gone back to 2 of the older firmwares for the 8100NEX 1.01 and 1.03
-tried a Galaxy S7 with 6.0.1 didn't work
-it works for my old z3 with 5.0.2 and my old Moto G with 6.0

Called HTC and Pioneer, but none of them had any ideas. Seems like a 6.0.1 problem, and I've submitted a question to Google as well, but no answers yet.

Do you guys have any ideas?

Apologies for the confusion, and confirmed HTC 10 running 6.0.1 works with Pioneer AVIC-8100NEX on 1.05 firmware and 2016 Civic.

I was out of ideas, even went to try out cars with Android Auto from manufacturer, and those all work. Turns out 6.0.1 is REALLY picky about cables, which I had it going through a USB-Aux retention cable. Though it works for 5.0.2 and 6.0 with the AXXESS AX-SUBUSB retention cable. I finally tore things open and plugged it in the cable directly to the back of the unit and it WORKED! O:-)

Make sure in settings that under developer options you have it set to MTP then turn developer options off. That was the fix for my setup. Nexus 6p, pioneer Aviv 8200nex
