Android Auto - Played Texts

Is there no way to have Android Auto to mark a message as read/played after listening to it? Right now, I listen to it, an do still will have a notification for the same text. Then if that person texts me to more times and I try and play the new text, it makes me listen to all three because they are still listed as unread. I know I can go and swipe to clear it, but a little ridiculous.

I'm going to guess "no" but I remember in an app I had that there was an option to mark texts read when they were played/read out by the app. Not sure how that will play into Android Auto since it was an app option. I think the app was Handcent…
