Android Auto random volume changes and chimes

Problem #1 - Volume goes up and down while streaming music (Amazon, iHeart).
It's similar to when Waze lowers the volume to deliver a message.
I tried the following:
Uninstalled Waze, still happens.
Disabled all app notifications, still happens.
If I bypass AA and stream via bluetooth the volume does not change.

Problem #2 - Chimes while speaking on phone.
Just loud enough to be annoying. It's a 5 note chime. Happens at random intervals only while speaking on the phone.
I have tried the following:
Bypass AA and speak via bluetooth, no chimes.

I have also uninstalled and reinstalled AA to no avail.

The former has been happening for months, the later is a new issue.

I have searched and searched for solutions, must not be common problems because I can find very little info these.

Well I restarted in Safe Mode thinking I would launch apps one at a time to try to see which ones are causing the issue.

Turns out Android will not allow me to launch downloaded apps while in Safe Mode.

They sure don't make it easy to track down issues.

I don't have any problem with my car at home but I had the same exact problem with a rental car (Kia Optima). The volume would just go up and down (while streaming Sirius XM) and I never figured out why. It drove me crazy for 5 days. Sorry I can't help but just wanted you to know that you're not alone with this problem.
