Android Auto Responds Like Fast Forward Tape

I'm having a problem with my Android Auto and my Google Pixel 2. I actually had this same problem with my Galaxy S7 as well. Fairly often, I'll ask it to send a text, it will repsond with the normal, "Sure, text so and so. What's the message?" The problem is that often times it sounds like a tape in fast forward. What is going on? And how can I fix it?
