Android Auto says "There are no new messages i can read"

Recently, whenever i receive a new sms while using android auto, when i tap on the notification to hear the new message android auto says "there are no new messages i can read". Android Auto has all permissions allowed.

I am using Android auto on a Oneplus 5 connected to a Pioneer 8100NEX.

Has anyone else come across this issue or have a fix?

I'm having the same problem, just within the last week.

Also, when it does read inbound texts it will allow me to reply, read my reply back to me, but cannot understand my "send it" command.

Very frustrating, especially given that I know the car dealership will be useless in the fix.

I thought it was just me. I use a Pioneer 4100NEX. Are either of you using the Waze AA beta?

I'm seeing the same thing, started sometime this week. Oneplus 3T with JVC KW-V830BT. I'm not using Waze AA (though hoping they let me into the beta soon).

I usually have to say 'send it' a couple times before it works, but I've been attributing that problem to ambient noise in the car.

I'm on a stock unit in a 2017 Denali using an old note 5 (patiently waiting for the note 8) and am not using the Waze beta.

The Google help page has been inundated with similar stories of issues, btw.
