Android auto

The reason for my tone is no one in this forum told you to get the s8 or android. So when you don't get the answer you're looking for it's really frustrating for you to reply that it's stupid, laughable, unacceptable, or iPhone does it better. Not "oh that sucks thanks anyway". Yes I'm being confrontational but you are not a ray of sunshine. Most people are appreciative for the assistance not whining about how the device they chose to get doesn't work like one from a completely different ecosystem.

I believe you can use the OK Google assistant to select a specific artist/song. "OK Google, play Justin Beiber." ;)

Please tell me this isn't true. I plug my phone in and utilize android auto. My phone screen is basically locked and I can't acess my home screen etc. While the app is running. There is a little left arrow and square on the bottom of my android auto screen on the phone but it does nothing. Redic.

Try this: hit the button for "Radio". That should take you to the radio screen. Then hit the home symbol on the screen. This should take you to the home screen. Android will continue to give you voice directions in the background. To get back to the navigation screen, just tap Android Auto on the screen.

Hey man, which phone model do you have?

I had the same problem with my Samsung S8 Plus. I could not minimize AA to access Spotify or any other app in my phone. My solution was to enable the Edge Screen from the Display settings. This way you can swipe to the side and open your favorite apps. Cheers.

My problem with Android Auto is when I connect I usually get a black screen or the Android Auto screen but the buttons at the bottom don't function. I am first connecting with bluetooth which functions perfectly. It is when I connect the USB cable and touch the Android Auto as it appears that I usually get a blank screen.

It's all controlled by voice. The idea of Android Auto is to be voice controlled with as little screen interaction as possible.

The problem with this (applies to Android Auto and Carplay ) is that their voice assistants aren't where they think they are.

Some artist names are obsecure or hard to pronounce and even if a user says it correctly the assistant won't understand.

I gave up on Android auto and Carplay because they are both frustrating and ultimately useless. To me they caused more distraction.

To solve this I just have a driving playlist. I use the steering wheel mounted controls to seek/play/pause. No distractions or frustrations.

I can honestly say I've never had Android auto misunderstand an artist, song name or request for music station. I've had a few text words get skewed but not very often.

I'll never buy another car without Android Auto.
