Android Central and Verizon Thunderbolt

It told me I should introduce myself. I've had a Thunderbolt for only a few months. I like it very much. I have the extended battery and am checking out the idea of rooting. My previous phone was the Palm Pre, which my son now has as a wifi internet device. I also have a Samsung Galaxy Tab, which I probably would also like to root. Why does Verizon put the unwanted apps on these devices anyway?

Actually for the most part, all of the carriers ad their own set of bloatware. That being said, I don't think any of them are as bad as VZ. I owned the TB for a while myself and if I remember correctly there were a total of 21 apps that I could not get rid of. CityID is by far the worst that you have on that phone. It will run all the time in the background even if you don't launch it just to see what it is.

To answer your question more directly, they add those apps because they make money off that, so they make money on your subsidized phone and plan and then on the apps. Sucks for us.
