Android Central Biased Toward the Iphone?

I have seen both, and from a fairly don't care viewpoint, both OS have their good and bad points.

I have an iPad. I bought it for some things that Android doesn't do. It allows me to save instruction videos from a site I belong to on the iPad itself. Mine is wifi only, so I can't download unless I do have wifi. I can watch when and wherever if saved on the Ipad.

It also has some CAD type programs that Android doesn't. I can scale and arrange a room without killing my back trying to find the best way. I don't want to use graph paper.

It also has a few more controls in MLB.

On the other side, I can't figure out how to put a fake name in the owner's spot.
There is other info I don't want Apple to have. Google doesn't have it either.

The developers put the most annoying ads in free software. Not that I mind the ads so much, but they all have loud sound or music which I do. The other half will get up and complain if it wakes him up. I never know when an ad will show up.

There are some programs that simply don't exist for Apple. I have 2 for identifying clouds - nothing like that in Apple. No launcher like Nova. There are more, but they escape me for now. There seem to be fewer apps for Weather, bird watching, and other nature info.

I miss the permissions in Android.

I also use Windows and Linux, and those are in the same boat. One does some things well, and so does the other.

I also had a Blackberry and did belong to the Crackberry site.

To be honest, I'm tired of the Samsung bias. One more gushing article on how super the S8 is and I'm going to get sick.

A lot of new replies... thanks for the discussion guys. let's get started.

@ahaxton people with anger conformation bias don't ask questions, they just rage. My post was not laced with insults toward AC or anything of the sort; I just stated my claim and asked for articles. So hold the accusations please, but thanks for the sources.

@Inders99 just for clarification, I'm not asking AC to be biased toward Samsung or Android. I just wanted equal treatment for both Android and IOS. If either or them do wrong they should be called on it, or at least not praised despite the fact.

@sulla1965 I agree! Apple phones don't "just work." One user experience isn't enough to ignore Touch disease, Error 53 and the hissing and heating issues that plagued the iPhone 7, just to name a few.

On that note, I could say Windows Pc's just work. After all, I've been on PC since Windows 95 and I've only gotten 2 viruses since then.

But a reviewer shouldn't focus on one user experience, even if that experience is their own. They have to take the general user experience into account as well, successes and flaws included.

@zuben el genubi That's what I'd like to see more of: mentioning pros and cons to each OS, without making one seem better than another.

I don't mind editorials, as long as they aren't one sided. Sometimes it seems that they are on this site. Ahaxton's links do show that AC will call Apple sometimes at least.

The bias is shown when you ask IPhone users why they use the iPhone over android. "Well the IPhone just works, it has the best camera, no lag and great battery life! and no one argues or even tries argue those points. My sister is constantly complaining about the battery life on her IPhone 5. I'm not saying the IPhone isn't a terrific device, but much of its popularity is based on its "assumed" superiority over android.

I don't think the camera in my Oneplus 5 is very much of a slouch.
I have apps that use the camera as a DSLR so I go in between.

I rarely shoot modes, so haven't done much except low light which does work.

I think a lot of users prefer the simplicity. I've seen people with very expensive DSLR and lenses shooting Auto or Modes. They let the camera do the work and don't have to figure out why or what it's doing. I have an older Canon DSLR, and a newer Canon Bridge camera. Both have modes - with the SX-60 having more which match the phones' cameras. If the menu for the camera looks like what they really expect, they will say the camera is easy to use.

A photography buff or one who started with film SLR cameras will see it far differently. The older the camera, the more manual it was. You had to know shutter speed, film speed and F-stops. The best thing I found was the built in light meter.

I lost the info from my Eye-fi card last year. I had to use the MXPE's pics for family calendars. They printed out just fine as 8x10. I was glad to have them.

The pics I took with the Oneplus 5 seem to be very sharp and true color. I won't be able to check color bias until certain lavender or light purple wildflowers bloom or do this year's calendar.

I've been reading AC for a long time now. And i can't help but notice that the iPhone can do no wrong, and Android no right.

Even with the release of the note 8, which is getting insane praise on Twitter, all AC can do is point out the high price and the location of the fingerprint scanner, and anything else wrong it can find with the phone. However, I haven't really seen ANY of the iPhone's sins highlighted in the past two years. AC didn't even really bash the exclusion of the headphone jack They instead suggested we try it or look into Bluetooth headphones.

It's been like this for the past 2-3 iterations of the iphone; it is always perfect in the eyes of AC. whereas the Android phones are always trying to "catch up" to the iPhone.

Has anyone else noticed this? Am I alone? Can anyone even link me an article where they bashed the iPhone?

I prefer proof, not opinions. Please link me an article.

I’m an iPhone user who comes here from time to time to read and participate. I don’t see what you’re talking about.

@Oxymoron428, I know exactly what you mean. Just look at the article Phil nickinson wrote about the new iPhone8 and x from an Android user. He still credit Apple for being Apple even with the old features they just added to the iPhone 8. Not to mention everyone rip the pixel for the big chin and bezel but iPhone hasn't changed that look for years and everyone is ok with it. The bias is real.

I definitely have seen the bias as well but I also haven't paid attention as to who wrote the article. It could just be one or two people of the several that they have writing articles for AC.

Lol, I felt the same way about a different topic. How the Galaxy S series is the best Android smartphone every year....yeah, sure.

I have every Apple device with the exception of my phone and sorry... they just work.

So do Androids...and they manage to work with twice the amount of features that iPhones have. The ‘they just work’ argument is nonsense.

Sorry you're wrong. My Apple routers have run circles around my other ones, if they worked at all. My Apple computers work much nicer than my stupid PC.

My Android just works, that's why I have them and have no intention of going to iPhone although I assume they're of the same quality as Apple's other products.

Sometimes I don't mind a little trip in the wayback machine........in fact I feel a couple years younger already lol.
