Because I was not born in the US and when I first arrived here, I could never imagine that a simple thing could be so cultural. Yes, a glass with this much of ice is an american thing. And now, I love drinking like this.

Frozen fractals
I took this photo during a snow storm in January on a walk through the woods. A few snow crystals were clinging to this tiny branch.

This picture was taken Feb 28th. It was the first and only really good snow this year in Northern Nevada. My daughter saw the snow and wanted to go out in her Elsa dress. This was in Christmas day in 2013 I had my brand new Nexus 5 (and still is my current phone) at my brother-in-law's house preparing for the big night, it was raining and I took this pic with HDR+ mode near the window but trying to focus on drops. In the end I had to crop to get bigger drops and still see the farther buildings though drops lens effect. I always use HDR+ mode and have took plenty of nice pics with my Nexus 5, but now I'm aiming for a phone with new Sony IMX230 sensor (to capture video in 4K with HDR
