Android Cheap iPhones?

That's hard to say because there is no official news from Apple on what will be on the next iPhone.

There is some wacky rumors for sure....but nothing official. I like the GSIII, I think that is gonna be hot. I owned the Galaxy S2 on Sprint, the phone is a beast, Sprint...not so much here.

@Maikai.Guy: Right on, I totally understand man. Maybe in 20 years I will feel different, who knows, you're right it's totally possible. I wanted to say now in hindsight I apologize if my last reply was too sarcastic, I can be a ****** sometimes :\

You've got nothing on me. I'm not lying when I say I've been enough of a ****** for ten of us. And I don't mean just saying stuff on a forum. ;-)

If you don't mind me digressing off topic here for a moment. The worst part of being a ****** is the regret that comes many years later. I suddenly remember crap I did... not supporting a friend like I could have. Dumping a girlfriend in a thoughtless way. It all seemed so little back then. Hey, I felt a connection with her new room mate (who also had a rocking body). Does it matter we were going out for two years and it was three weeks before Christmas? Not at the time it didn't. All fun and games. Stuff I've done, or didn't do, or needlessly said to someone already in pain when I could have been the bigger man and offered words of comfort. Then you become a husband, a father, a pallbearer, and this sh-t from your life past comes to haunt and torture your days.

... just sayin'. Yeah, I'm a ****** all right. You got nothin' on me! ;-)

@Johnly: Gotta say after reading a few of your posts you seem a little two-faced on the subject, not gonna lie man. My iPhone 4 is jailbroken as well, tons of Cydia apps and tweaks going on. I don't care how extensive you think you have gotten with a jailbroken iPhone, but it's still not close to what Android can do on it's own out of the box. Just doesn't compare. And as far as your question about competing with iPhone 5... yeah, there will be an Android that competes, actually more than one, just like there has been for years now. I can already say given Apple's trends over the years, the One X and GSIII, and anything else that comes out that is comparable to those, are going to be ahead of the iPhone 5 even after it comes out. Apple always goes with slightly more than minimum when it comes to hardware, Android is always pushing the envelope. No other way to look at it really.

I understand man, it is okay. I am one of three people here that are not of the allegiance with one OS. I like phones and the geeky things they do now days. they are powerful. I do take both sides, so now you know : )

As much as I want to say Apple is so junky and Android is so superior in every way like some here do, I just can't. I have to be true to how it is.

I admit the RAM and PROC in android devices as of late are leading the way as they should being released today.

Going back, the Nexus series devices are the only premium cult Android OS devices that are released on a yearly continuum and with new OS every year. All others like HTC, Motorola, Samsung belt out their factories; a new phone every couple months.

If Google can stiffen up the hardware, I am talking everything, battery, camera, materials, display, all of it.....then we have something, and something I greatly desire.

Just my .02 on a little bit of tech on this topic.

I think the fact that it's fragile adds to its luxury honestly.

Now who is claiming laughable things?! :D

Yeah. It's a true luxury to own a device that isn't even designed well enough to handle it's intended environment. ...and it does less. ...and you get to pay for stuff you either get for free, or much less elsewhere.

An observation: You said in other posts (I think back in February) that you just left the iPhone4S for a GNex. Apple must have done something to you or Android must have had some sort of appeal for you to drop a glorious iPhone4S after barely 4 months.

You say you're on a GNex, but you're signature says Bionic. Where did the Bionic fit in?

You should straighten all that out.

Oh yeah... you should also cover your tracks by posting a pro-Andoid message every new moon or so. ;-)

Speaking of which, I don't think anyone truly uses a IPhone without a case on it, neither do I hope to drop it.

Well I would bet thousands of people use it without a case. I for one have lots of friends with iPhones and I can only think of two people that have a case. People love to flash that Apple sign. I actually had the iPhone I use (yes I have a galaxy nexus and iPhone) apple sign removed View attachment 24003

I use mine with no case/screen protectors, trully been that way for a long time. My buddy Brian does too. IMO screen protectors and cases ruin the finishe and feel, both in the hand and pocket.
The iPhone 5 will be liquidmetal a Apple exclusivity. Can't wait!

I never think phones were meant to be dropped like this, period...I don't care if it has Gorilla glass or not.

But they do make phones that are supposed to be abused. :)

I use a Galaxy SII, and there is nothing cheaply built about it. It's a bomber phone and weighs practically nothing.

Nothing cheaply about Galaxy SII !!!!!. So surprised to hear that. Bar the display, it looks like a Chinese calculator from the back and the back plastic looks so ugly. It is very flimsy too.

The iPhone is front and back glass. Don't want it to break? Don't drop it. It's simple. My friend has some HTC phone from Sprint, dropped, with a case, screen shattered. I've dropped my iPhone 4 once in two years without a case from ~4ft on a tile surface, nothing more than a tiny ding on the aluminum antenna. It goes both ways man.

Apple has a program to replace screens because they realized some people are going to drop their $6-700 phone where the outside is pretty much all glass like an idiot.......

So according to you People who drop phones are "Idiots"...
I find this pretty offensive, abusive and racist as well.
Such comments can only comes from an self declared elite or in other words "isheep" .

Wow, you really missed the boat here mate.

No offense intended, nothing abusive or racist about it... dunno where that is coming from. I apologize for having an opinion on the matter... lol...

Such an "isheep" I'm getting an Android in literally 2 weeks. And if you bothered to read my other posts you can see I clearly point out and agree with the flaw in Apple's design for the iPhone 4/4S as well as explain where I am coming from with my opinion on dropping phones but... yes... you have me pegged... hahaha...

By the way, I find your implying I am a "self declared elite or in other words 'isheep'" pretty offensive, abusive and racist as well. So, I guess we are even.

Haven't seen a single iPhone user using the phone without a protective case.

Congratulations. Quite a few of them do, though, sorry.

I keep hearing disbelief at the idea of dropping a cell phone. Nobody finds that odd?

No one ever intends to drop anything, unless they are filming a "drop video", yet people drop things every day. I'm sure someone drops something every second of every day. It's called an accident. Are you guys really suggesting that you never dropped ANYTHING? ...EVER?

Manufacturers of cell phones make replacement parts because people do drop them. If nobody dropped these things, there wouldn't be such a demand for replacement parts. Makes sense, right?

I do believe there is some inverse correlation between the perceived value of the device and the likelihood of dropping it. I'd hazard a guess that those who can't wrap their brains around the idea of having an accident with their phone are also those least likely to afford a replacement.

This is not meant in a disrespectful manner at all. I'm not your peer suggesting you are poor. I find myself on a forum with a lot of young people (I'm assuming 20's and 30's) who can't conceive of themselves having an accident with their phone, which is intriguing because it seems to me a ridiculous premise. How can someone obviate the inevitable?

I'm simply postulating that older generations, whose lives are more financially stable, are probably more likely to drop a phone. The graph is probably a reverse bell curve. With teenagers (clumsy and it's usually dad's phone, so who cares?) and 40+ (much more financially stable) showing a higher percentage of breakage than 20's and 30's. If I had to guess, the trough would be around 25... early years out of college... potentially high debt load... income hasn't bloomed yet... definitely high spending (rent, partying)...

This would have been a good High School science project for my son. It would depend on the availability of the data. Perhaps the cell phone stores would provide the age breakdown of those coming in for repairs, even if the data was only anecdotal.

yes I have a galaxy nexus and iPhone

Same here! Though my iPhone 4 sits at home as only an alarm clock & Skype phone.
My primary is a GNex with a Nexus S as backup in case something should happen I can locate / lock / wipe it with a quick SMS.

But they do make phones that are supposed to be abused. :)

Touche, but just the fact that people actually bash the Iphone for being "smashable" while even Gorillia Glass (HTC's One X) gets visible cracks after three attempts. That is pure ludicrous and makes me laugh in jest.

Even if I just happen to drop my phone and it cracks, Gorilla Glass or otherwise, guess what, I don't actually go bash the manufacturers for screwing up. That is thinking ass-backwards.
