Android device charging via USB cable but not detected in PC, can I please get some help?

android device charging via USB cable but not detected in PC

I have an Android 4.2.2 device, a tab. I connect it with my Windows 8 machine using USB cable. The device starts charging but neither it asks me anything about USB debugging not it is visible in the PC.

Tablet is QMobile QTab100, with Android 4.2.2.

I tried two cables and both are fine. I know that.

I do not see any USB notification in the tablet.

Welcome to Android Central! What brand and model is the tablet? When you connect it via USB, swipe down the notification panel--do you see a USB notification icon? If so, tap it and make sure MTP is selected.

Also, try a different cable. Some cables are intended only for charging and not data transfer.

I have a similar problem. I have a S5 Mini Duos with Android 4.4.2. I had no problems until I had to restore my Sony Vaio with Windows 7. I installed KIES 3 like before and I wanted to back up my S5. But now my PC charges the phone but does not recognise it, unless I switch to PTP mode. In PTP mode my PC sees the phone, both the phone storage and the external SD, but KIES 3 asks me to switch to MTP, which doesn't work as even KIES 3 cannot recognise the phone when it is in MTP mode. I didn't connect the phone to my PC before installing KIES 3 and I wonder if this can be part of the problem, maybe I should have connected the phone before, let the PC recongnise it, and then install KIES 3?

Open up device manager on your computer (right click on computer and click properties you should see it) plug device in and let everything load. Do you see your device show up with errors or something. Uninstall it's driver unplug and replug

Hi Shane, this is actually what I did just after I posted my comment. I had to set the phone in PTP mode in order for it to show up in Device Manager, then I uninstalled the drivers from there and unpluged the phone, then I set it in MTP mode and replugged it, and it got installed properly. Thanks.

Hi
I'm using Nexus 5x with Android 8.0.0 and Sony Vaio E series with Windows 10 Home Single Language.
I'm unable to connect my phone with PC through USB. Though it's getting charged but unable to see the folder.
Already tried changing USB modes (Charging, MTP, PTP, etc)
Also my DVD Drive is also not working.
Please help.

Check the phone maker's website and see if they have updated Windows device drivers for your phone.
