Hi,
how can I export my Chrome or Firefox bookmarks as HTML-files, please?
It is so easy with Linux or MS Windows on my laptop, but how to do it with my Android tablet?

Thanks, androcub

I have a backup of my Chrome bookmarks as a single HTML file now on PC/USB-Stick. Google did send me a download link via email. But now I can see my original mobile bookmarks on the tablet only if I am logged in to my Google account. When I am logged out they are gone.
How can I have my bookmarks on my tablet permanent/local again, please?
Thanks, androcubc

I haven't used Chrome in a long time but the only means of importing your bookmarks on Chrome for Android is by signing in to to your Google account. If I'm wrong and things have changed (which I somehow doubt) then I'm sure someone will be along to slap my wrist.

My only suggestion would be to sign in to your Google account to obtain your bookmarks, move them to 'Mobile bookmarks' on the bookmarks home page then sign out of your Google account.

Your bookmarks will then be stored on your phone and not synced to the cloud.

Thankfully I don't have this problem as I can export and import bookmarks at will as an HTML file on my Brave browser.

Still correct today and to add to above. Chrome requires you to be signed in on Chrome and by extension Chrome requires that account to be added on the phone.

You cannot access them with plain Chrome without signing in. If you want to access bookmarks without signing in to Google, OP must use a different browser that supports syncing or if they don't care about sync use a Chromium FOSS based browser.

Wow, this Brave browser is a Braveheart ;-) Just imported my synced bookmarks HTML file (I had synced via Chrome) into my virgin Brave .... and, unbelievable, I have now all my bookmarks again on my tablet, without ever having to sign in to Chrome!
Thanks a lot, androcubc

Glad you're happy!😃

If you stick with it it's well worth familiarsing yourself with the 'Brave Shields & privacy' settings.

If you then decide to do some digging there's also a lot of ways to customise it just so to your liking.

There's also flags, which has pretty much what Chrome has but with a few Brave additions. I personally use the Beta version, which apart from the odd niggle has been extremely stable.
