Android kitkat or android L update

HTC One X is a flagship model, it should have got a kitkat update long back but was ignored and neglected..!!
Why did HTC did not provide this update? and why not an android L update atleast??

HTC probably decided it wasn't worth the time to spend getting 4.4 on the One X.
