Android M-Will the GS6 Ever See it?

Liking Moon PIe.....was just thinking....what are they going to do with Android Q?

Years ago there used to be McVitie’s Quirks, they were a biscuit but the only sweet thing that begins with Q I can think of!

M won't be released for the s6 until after the s7 is released. That seems to be on par with how Samsung does things.

I think the M will stand for Mud. It will be released and people will have problems for the next 10 months.

Why that late? It's so close to the GS7 launch assuming Samsung launches it then. The GS7 will probably ship with Android M update? 2015 EOY seems plausible, no?
Should be around the same time whebn S6 was released so March 2016.

Yes, I think the S6 will get it, but I agree with the Q1/Q2 2016 beliefs. I think the name could be marshmallow, but I believe they still might change it as they go.

I'm really interested in the Doze feature, but I won't hold my breath. I remember all the talk last time about Project Volta and its great battery improvements and that didn't really work out as promised.

Android M will probably be released to the S6 by early Q1 2016 no later. I think they may get this out a little faster than Lollipop, at least I hope.

Like chocolate anytime. Banana is pretty good. Strawberry is by far the best and can be found where else, Nashvegas, home of the 2016 Winter Classic.

My cat is named Moon Pie, so it's got my vote for the Android M name. This discussion is getting me hungry. :)

Well, now that I'm starving...Yes, I think the S6 will get Android M. I doubt it will be this year, in the US anyway. My guess is it will be called Milkshake.

I'm with you. Faster updates would be a boon to Android users and those thinking of making the switch.

The first preview builds have just been posted. Still have to wait for M to be announced with their final name by Q3 2015. Then assuming just like lollipop, all OEMS will start building upon M and adding their UI like touch wiz, a couple betas of Samsung testing, and then it'll be sent to carriers to do their testing, once thats complete, release.
My guess, and I'm pretty confident about my guess looking back at lollipop and how there were leaks of lollipop for the S5, and all the testing being done, I can safely say the GS6 won't receive M until Q1 2016.

Just stopped at the Moon Pie General Store in Chattanooga. Got a box of chocolate, a box of banana, a box of lemon, and a box of strawberry. Should tide us over the rest of the year until we get Android Moon Pie.

Android N is for 2016. It has to be before then.

Ok so maybe AT&T will put out M before the S7 comes out BUT, Remember AT&T didn't let the S5 have Lollipop Till This YEAR. I can't remember the Exact date but, I know I was one of those waiting for it. So yes N may be what is slated for 2016 but that has very little to do with release time for the carriers. That is why I gave the time line that I did.

Not if we use history as our guide. For the past couple of years the timeline has rolled out like this: The new version of Android gets released into AOSP at roughly the same time the new Nexus phone is released, which is late October/Early November (the Nexus 5 and KitKat were released on October 31st, the Nexus 6 with Lollipop was announced on October 15th, with availability on October 29th). It will then take the manufacturers roughly 90 days to update their respective major flagship phones, which puts us in late January to early February.

I vote for Milky Way and a partnership/promotion with the candy bar. With KitKat they gave away Google Play credits and Nexus phones when you bought a KitKat bar. I'll be buying lots of Milky Way bars!

Android M codename: MENTOS

ok, I'm kidding ... first off, I think Mentos are GROSS. Second, I'm pretty sure it's NOT going to be that LOL.
