Ok, call me picky but there are things about the market that kind of bug me.

First, why do developers release an app (particularly a paid app) without screen shots. Why would I want to spend money on a blind item.

Second is spam in the comments - admittedly not a huge deal but I hate seeing the "appbucket.net for 9.99 a year blah blah blah"

There's other things in the marketplace that hold back the market, its a good vehicle to buy/manage your apps, but it can be a great mechanism, if google stepped up to the plate. They need to administer some over sight, to protect the developers and consumers. Right now there seems to be no over sight.

I've got one thing to say about the market:

...... sloooooow.

Why does it take so long to load My Downloads sometimes? I mean honestly.

I like the Android market a million times better than the itunes store. The market is pretty straightforward, the itunes store is a convoluted mess, IMO.

The Market loads fine for me.

I get peeved by Devs that dont tell you what updated, or make you go to their website for the changelog.

Cosign on above posts.
Also, I really wish it was better organized...like deeper subcategories or something.
The "just in" section suuuuucks...you have to wade through tons of crappy "hot girl" apps and you still may not see anything actually new, just updated stuff.
Plus the search function is shockingly bad, considering it's google.
Sigh, okay I'll stop now, but I could go on.

I don't really have a problem with the search funtion on the market. Type in the name of the app you're looking for (or keyword) and browse through the results. Am I missing something?

If you're searching for something in which you know the exact name, sure...but it does become a little messy if you are actually searching for something you do not know the name of. There should be a better way to sort results, and poorly rated apps should be thrown way to the bottom. The nonsense apps on there are ridiculous.

I get where Google is coming from. They want a free and open market as opposed to a closed one like Apple. But you can still clean it up and keep it open at the same time.

Otherwise, it sure beats the hell out of Blackberry App World! Navigating that was PAINFUL!

a lot of them do post screen shots and some of them do post what the update fixes or if more features added.

sometimes the market can be slow but most of the time it's not

Thanks for your insight.

i know it doesnt help the fact, but i think the market offers free returns on all apps if you do it within the first 24 hours. so you wont have any buyers remorse if you really do hate the app after you buy it

They need a 'sort by' function so I can set it to go from high to low stars when I am searching. (if they have it, i dont know where it is)

True, but I don't want to go through the hassle of buying/returning willy-nilly. In a sense, I'm voting with my wallet. It doesn't have screen shots, I don't buy it. Will it impact anyone in a material sort of way. No, but at least I know what I'm buying

My biggest peeve is not being able to access the Market via pc/mac. If you could go through apps on a regular computer screen, with some filtering/sorting devices down the side such as other app "markets" have, it would be extremely helpful.

Also, it doesn't seem all that difficult to do as other app markets do and send an email or sms with the download link after purchase. I don't understand why you can access the official Market only via the DX.

Otherwise, I agree with just about all of the above comments.

Can't Use PayPal!!!
My BlackBerry with AppWorld and my iTunes can both use PayPal.

get the paypal debit card and link it to your bank account through paypal then use the debit card in the market, I think you can even use a credit card linked to the debit card but not positive on that one

I have had no luck with searching for a: types of apps (like if you are looking for a weather widget, only those that have the words "weather widget" come up, but some have names w/o that phrase)
b: apps I dont know the EXACT name of. (Looked for "drocap", nothing. Had to research and find out, type "drocap2" or "drocap 2")

Have you tried appbrain.com?

Have you tried appbrain.com?

Yes I have. And there are others, too, such as Handango - BlackBerry Apps, Android Apps, Windows Mobile Apps & More,
Droid Apps — Android Apps, HTC Evo Apps, Droid 2 apps, Droid Incredible apps, AndroLib, Find all the applications and games available in the Android Market for your Android Phone, HTC Dream, HTC Magic etc... and Smartphone Apps and Smartphone Accessories - MobiHand Store.

These are the pc websites I referred to when I mention being able to see more about the apps than possible on the X screen. Also the ability to sort apps and see visual presentations on what is offered in each app.

It just seems odd that you can't access any app info from a pc on Marketplace.
