Android Messages Repeated Notification

Is anyone else using Android Messages for text messages and have a problem with repeated notifications?

if I get a text message, the notification pops up on the screen and tells me what it says. Then if I don't check it and I get another one, the same message keeps showing up instead of showing me the actual new text message that comes in. I was using Samsung's text messaging app before this and I never had this problem.

Yeah. I guess I'm going back to Samsung's.

Have you tried uninstalling and then installing again?

If you haven't done so, it's worth clearing the app cache for the Messages app. If you don't have any important messages saved, also clear the app data (although I'm not sure if saved messages are there, or in a separate Message Storage system app).

I did. I had the same problem with it last time before a factory reset.

I think that might be your problem
Try using stock launcher with andriod messages.

I'll try it. Everything works fine with the Samsung messaging.

Ok, probably didn't set permission on that launcher for notifications so double check that also .

Same issue. Verizon, using Android Messages. Annoying at times. Not a deal breaker for me though. Hopefully they will fix in an update soon.

I have text coming in from family and work. It's aggravating when I'm at work and the same text notification keeps coming in. I get get 6 messages and they are all the same notification. I've missed a few important messages because if it. I have that it's my favorite messenger app.

As crazy as it sound, I think Android Pie fixed it. I updated this morning and I have had no problems. I can also now create a mini window when I see down from the notification.
