Android N installed - no more "charging rapidly"

Having installed Android N on my 6p, battery drain has become a real problem. I can't work out what's happening as changes to N mean that GSAM can no longer report on app level battery usage (I'm not rooted) so, for now at least, I'm going to need to make use of its fast charge capability to keep the thing topped up.

Having just plugged my charger in, I am very disappointed to find that the usual "charging rapidly" message doesn't appear and according to GSAM, charge time from 40% to full will take 2 hours!

So I've got significant battery drain, no stats on what's happening and no fast charge capability. That's not a great start.

Anyone else expending any/all of this?

Did you reboot the phone? That happened to me once, and a reboot fixed the problem. Also could be the charger, if you have more than one test it out.

Rebooting the phone has fixed that for me in the past when using Mashmallow

Had this before. Nothing worked for me and Google decided to replace the phone under warranty

I would suggest factory restore or even flashing the latest U build of 7.0 system image. This update from M to N has been somewhat problematic for some as there were different ways people got the Nougat update (i.e. through the beta program), and at some point there were multiple builds (like T and U), but U should be the latest stable build.
I also had issues with battery draining quickly, but neither cache wipe nor restarting the phone did the trick. After a clean system image install, the phone feels like new again.

If you use the following ADB command you can enable app level reporting:

adb -d shell pm grant com.gsamlabs.bbm.pro android.permission.BATTERY_STATS (if you're using the free version leave off the .pro portion of the command)

I'll agree that I haven't seen that message lately - not sure which Beta build I was running when I last noticed it.

Unsure about the GSam complaint though. I don't normally check GSam while I'm charging, so I can't report how much time it says it's going to take, but actual recharge times seem to take about the same amount of time as they used to.

Quick update - this now seems to have sorted itself out though I don't know how! But it's fast charging again so I'm not going to complain.

The "adb" command mentioned above - is this just for rooted devices?

No, actually it's for unrooted devices.
