Hey guys. I just install the latest version of Android o that was released yesterday. Is anyone else checking it out on their 6p?

Not yet, but I have it at the ready. Probably will wait until the weekend to do the install. Let us know how it goes.

Yeah, I'm using it, but I'm still not a fan. The notifications changes still annoy me--not so much the persistent notifications as the individualized toasts. I hate getting a flurry of individual toasts and notification sounds (one for each email message) nearly every time I power on the screen. If I had any effective granular control over that behavior, I'd be a lot happier with it.

Apart from that, tho, I haven't noticed any problems with DP4. Yet.

the only bug I've noticed so far is with my default messages app. It will not play the alert sound that I have selected for it. Whenever I get a text message it plays the default sound of the system. It won't play the alert that I select in the app.

It didn't change mine; I use a custom sound for texts & calls. Beta 3 did; changed back to default. I did manage to change back to my custom sounds, don't remember how. So far I have not noticed any bugs (I am a very light user & setup my phone for max. battery life)

Yeah, using it on mine. I absolutely hate the icons so far though. Other than that I don't have many complaints.

I haven't checked the icons yet. I'm running Nova launcher and custom icons. I'll switch launcher and check them out.

I finally did the install tonight. So far, so good. definitely had more zip. Runs very smooth and fast. I'll put the battery top the test tomorrow. So far only problem I have is the Today calendar widget does not load properly, so I removed it for now.

I installed the latest beta the other day ,am using the 6p as my main phone since last night. So far haven't had any issues with apps.

How is battery life fairing?

Its to early to see how the battery life is for me yet , I will give it a week to see .

I can't get it to work with my 6P currently. Could be a workaround/fix but I haven't found one (haven't really looked that hard).

That's scary, supposedly they are going to release O on the 21st, how can they do that if AA doesn't work?

I just installed O this morning. Android Auto is now working for me (2017 Chevy Volt).

My first impressions are that it's not as quick as N. The drop down menu is harder to read, it's certainly uglier. The Nova launcher scroll bar in Apps doesn't work but you can scroll thorough the apps the slow way. Google Keep doesn't work very well. There are no new features that' I've found. Overall I think it will be a mistake if they release it on the 21st, as rumored, it's not quite ready.

Yeah, I went with B4 too, definitely "sluggish", but I suspect a lot of that will get fixed, before RTM.

I wonder how much of that is due to a device that was never designed with all the new "doze" features for apps, like the Pixel was, from day 1?
Having dedicated h/w for fast resume and predictive fast loads of a small handful of most-recently-used apps is a lot easier, if you have a lot more horsepower at a given power drain (i.e. 810 vs 820/821 vs 835/836) rate.
In theory, given that the 820 was about 30% more efficient, and the 835 another 20-30% again (obviously amortized), that resume can come at a LOT less power cost.
I really notice this on the ZTE Axon 7 I got for our daughter, it's a heck of a lot quicker on resume than my 6P; I thought my 6P was pretty darn good still, until I set this one up, oops ;-]
