Long ago at I/O Android codenamed Project 'Silver' known as Android ONE is OEM based low end phones featuring android updates like for nexus devices. My straight question ........Is Android One DEAD or ALIVE?

Very much alive. Last phone I'm aware of released about 6 months ago with the Snapdragon 617 and is running Nougat 7.0

Alive in select developing countries, but it doesn't seem to have made the big bang it was meant to make, the range of phones is still small from what I've see.

I doubt most carriers want them, and that is what is slowing the project down, as most carriers want to brand handsets and control updates.
