Hi, I'm not an Android user. In fact I'm a WP8 user. My Main driver is the HTC M8 for Windows. while the rest of my family runs iphone . This coming month Microsoft is coming out with two new WP10 devices to me the renders look like crap. and the one that I, would look at being the 950XL is reporting to be an AT&T exclusive. For you folks that use Android devices Most of the really good WP devices have been exclusive to one carrier. some say switch but with a 6 phone family plan moving off of T-MO . Is not an option for me. It's not that I dislike the WP OS in fact I like it a lot I'm sick of every time a device comes out that I'm liking it's always exclusive thus I end up buying a device that I really didn't want just to use the OS. This time around i'm not doing that. if the 950XL Is exclusive to AT&T then i'm going Android. which leads me to the gust of my question of all the Android devices the Samsung S6 edge to me is the most exciting of them all.So for you seasoned Android users what is your take on the S6 Edge is it worth the buy ? because i'm about 90% sure this is the way i'll be going.any insight will be appreciated thanks.

There are so many good phones now that it is impossible to compare, and it's personal. For me, the most important decision isn't the phone - it's the ecosystem. I've been on gMail, gCalendar and the rest of the Google suite for years. I have a Chromebook, and even my Windows 10 PC has most Windows features suppressed while I instead use Chrome, Drive, etc. The ease of integration of those services, and not any particular device, is why I use Android.
The second choice is to have maximum flexibility regarding carriers, so I use an unlocked phone compatible with any GSM Sim card: ATT, T Mobile, lots of foreign carriers etc. My current choice is Nexus. My only real complaint is that everyone I know has an iPhone, and when they send iMessages over WiFi, I do not get them.

I have friends who have to pay for text so they use whatsapp I have it installed as well. I'm not much of an apple fan.most of the apps I use a pretty much on all ecosystems so i'm not worried about that. Mainly the device, Been floating around the forums here to get a feel on what folks think of the S6 edge so far I'm liking what I've been reading,

I look at the coverage of the carrier I need first. When Sprint was no longer cutting it for me, I compared other carriers, figured out AT&T was a better choice for me, then, and only then, did I look at my phone options.

As for your question...Have you played with it? Does it seem like something you would like? Keep in mind, that your carrier probably has a 14 day return policy in case you don't.

I did indeed play with it at the T-MO store funny they had the 6plus next to it. so i was going from one to the other, after a while i didn't bother going back to the 6plus. the screen res, on the S6+ was nothing short of spectacular lest to my eyes.I've read a lot on how people didn't like how it fit in the hand, but I didn't find that an issue at all. I also looked at the Note but kept going back to the S6 To me it's a very exciting device both to hold and use. and I said the screen was amazing, I was very impressed. I never owned and android before so it was very new to me..

Did you look at any Android devices besides the Samsung ones? What was it about the Samsung devices that had you focusing on them? There are lots of other Android devices that are excellent choices. I'm leaning to the Moto X Pure or the soon-to-be-announced Nexus 6P for my next device. Both of those devices are likely to support all US carriers (the Moto X Pure does), are unlocked and can be bought off-contract.

I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014) tablet, while SOME of the TouchWiz features are nice I hardly use any of them and the device is just flat laggy compared to my 2013 Moto X running Lollipop. The only reason I bought the Samsung was because there were no other devices in the 10.1" screen size that really compared from a hardware standpoint. If I felt I could survive with a 7" screen for my uses I would have certainly gotten a Nexus 7 instead. On the phone side, the hardware has much better competition.

A lot of good suggestions here, and I think you have already found the phone for you ;). Once you've made up your mind on the carrier and even the OS of the phone that you would like, choosing the actual physical device is a very personal and subjective decision. If you have had a chance to actually handle the device you're considering and have done your research and are certain about what your want in a device, why not pull the trigger and go for it? What's important is what you think will be the best fit for you because you're the one who will be using it - not someone else.

I have had a lot of Samsung phones and honestly I do like them a lot and yet I hate them at the same time. What I hate is Samsung's haphazard method of updating devices, allowing carriers to muck around with them and most importantly I have Touch Wiz which is why I always put Nova Launcher on my phones.

That said I did own both the S6 & S6 Edge for about 2 weeks each and really enjoyed them both a lot, feature rich, superb desing and well worth the purchase. Yet I wanted something that could be updated quickly so I am holding off for Nexus, Moto or something else.

One thing to keep in mind as we are just around the corner from October, is Nexus devices are due out next week (announcement) and the big rumor is the Galaxy S7 will be announced in January with a quick turn around to sale in February. If so you may want to wait a few months and get the S6 Edge for less or look to the S7 Edge with upped specs.

I have used (not personally owned) the M8 and I just can't see myself getting used to the new interface. I do like the new WP10 style though. Just personal opinion though.

I have always really enjoyed the quality of samsungs products. However, as others have stated, they ALWAYS let the carriers install their BS bloatware on the phones. It's pretty annoying. Touchwiz is kind of invasive in the memory department, however it's not horrible.

If you want a great unlocked android phone for cheap. Look at the OnePlus One. It runs cyanogen mod right out of the box and it's a little beast. For 300(that's what it was 4 months ago anyways, could be cheaper now) you will be hard pressed to find a device to compare it to. 300 dollars for a 64gb phone with pretty decent specs is great.

Android phone is really better than Windows phone. I used a lumia 535, lack of so many apps. And didn't support wireless charger. Love Android more!

My advice would be to get the Moto x pure. Samsung devices, if you leave them stock without rooting etc will start to lag and glitch in my experience.

You can also take a look at the LG G4 or the new Nexus 6p. But based on what you have said I think the Moto x pure is the phone for you.

I cannot offer any comments about Samsung devices, since I've never owned any. However, I made the switch from Windows Phone to Android, due to the lack of features and limitations of the OS (inability to attach files other than pictures in email replies, lack of NFC payment, "resuming"), as well as due to the apps (no banking apps, no Starbucks app, buggy Office/Skype apps for Windows Phone). Android fits well into the Windows ecosystem, in fact the Microsoft apps work better on Android than on Windows Phone.

I wrote a review here, that you might want to check out.

I'm a Nexus fan but I also love having the latest OS right away. Plus the front facing speakers on the Nexus 6 and 4k video was a clincher for me when I got this a year ago.

A buddy has last year's Edge and he no longer uses the edge feature as he says it was really a gimmick. Samsung also puts a lot of bloatware on their devices which I dislike.

My Nexus also on T-Mobile didn't even have T-Mobile bloatware on it which was great and unexpected. I hate that crap.

Of course android.
-ios closed system (as for me it is a big disadvantage)
-windows on the phone? (can be to work)

I love android. The best of the thing is it is open. It allow imagination from anyone.
Yet. It may need to very careful balance between open system and becoming too fragment and losing control.

Hello OP! I also came from Windows Phone, but I switched back in April!

Android was my choice because Windows Phone just felt old after awhile. I would only choose Android if your already a Google User and also don't hate Google... I know people on Windows Central really hate Google. Anyway, continuing on, Android is way more customizable and has all of Microsoft's services you used in Windows Phone. You also have better official apps on Android then windows phone (i.e Spotify). Android is also more automatic then Windows Phone because you can have apps that do anything. Apps on Android feel more cleaner and more user friendly than Windows Phones apps (Excluding Rudy Huyn's Apps). Android is basically Windows. Has apps that can do anything. Accept that Android is Open Source.

The only thing you'll miss is that Windows Phone had a universal Light/Dark theme.

Been a an android user since I stopped using a Palm Treo. The frustration with this fractured system is starting to set in. The variation from manufacturer to manufacturer was once a plus, but, now it's becoming a problem. The inconsistency of update roll-outs, or, no update at all is becoming increasingly more frustrating. For instance, Motorola won't be updating the carrier branded, non "pure", 2014 Moto X. I currently have a Verizon 2014 Moto X that won't be updated to Android 6.0. This phone is only a year old and update support will be terminated. Unacceptable!

If you want a phone other than Samsung, with great specs and camera, you'll have to buy a huge phone of at least 5.5". I say other than Samsung because, not all people want an all glass phone that historically is prone to lagging within a year. Apple, with their locked down OS even, is becoming a more attractive option. The iPhone 4s, which is about 4 years old can be updated to iOS 9 if desired, although not recommended. There is an amount of certainty and comfort knowing you will definitely be up to date when you purchase a phone.

I've even been considering a Windows phone. I know the app support just isn't there yet, but, I also can remember when I bought a Samsung Galaxy S3 because it was a great phone at the time, with limited app support.

I would love to move to the Nexus line, but, between the 5x and the 6p, I like the 5x form factor more. Unfortunately, the 5x, spec wise, is not a good option. Max 32gig storage that is not expandable and lcd display is a large concession, considering the specs of the 6p. But, the 6p is a massive phone by any estimation.

All of that to say this. Android has lost touch with the mission. And, as non innovative as Apple has become, they have still consistently produced a more viable version of the smart phone as a whole. I'm also rooting for Windows to catch up. The more the better.

I had the 1520 then when it went bonkers I jumped ship to the HTC m8 Android and was very glad to do so. Prior to the 1520 I had the Note 2 and Note 3...

Like Laura said Microsoft apps work better with Android than they do on WP and it won't take long till everything compelling for a WP is on Android for you.

Personally I think the cluster puck of the release of the 950/950xl is just another nail in the coffen for WP and even though the apologists refuse to see the handwriting that's been on the wall for a long time now, nor will they ever believe it is a dead end platform walking...

The edge is a great phone but I much prefer the Note series and the spen to it.

There are a bunch of new Android phones coming out to choose from so try to get your hands on as many as you can before deciding.
