I have a carrier version by Bell in Canada and I haven't even dared upgrading to Nougat 7.0 because of some negative reports regarding loss of battery life endurance when compared to Marshmallow. However, I would consider Oreo 8.0 update if the user reviews based on battery performance and overall stability show promise.

So, has anyone had the chance to update yet to 8.0, if so what do you think of battery performance and stability issues?

My 10 is a home multimedia device. I have been checking everyday since XDA posted that it was rolling out and have yet to receive any update. I'm curious if they've actually released the OTA yet. I have the US unlocked by the way.

Mine had to go back after battery history problems (life still OK), and came back with a new battery and LCD. I updated to Oreo on its return. It's great with a new battery, does two days of light use, and seems quicker. I hate the squircle icons and folders though, will have to find an alternative. UK unlocked via Carphone Warehouse on EE.

Just a bump on this topic

Wondering if any one did any type of scientific actual testing with battery monitoring apps comparing perfomance of Marshmallow/Nougat vs Oreo too?

Also what comes as default on Oreo, Google Now or Google Assistant? Thanks

I didn't do any rigorous comparisons of power usage. I think it has Google Assistant. I've been very happy with the update. Faster app switching, smoother animations, Chrome seems a little faster. I did a factory reset after installation but I don't think it helped. There might have been some initial RAM management issues at first, but I think it's now on par with Nougat. I would install it. It's supposed to be more secure, too.

The battery life on Oreo is so bad the phone is a complete joke in my opinion. I had to charge it AT LEAST 3 times a day. It's a joke

Have you tired a factory reset. I did not but my phone was restarting a lot before and after it's fixed. I would try doing a reset. It should fix it.

My phone wasn't restarting at all. It's just the battery life was so bad, I got rid of it. I just wanted to sahre my experience that's all. Really terrible battery life on Oreo for me.

I just got the update yesterday and my battery is atrocious. I haven't done a reset yet. It's a shame we have to in hopes that it'll fix issues related to an updated OS.

Thanks for your reports everyone, I've decided to stick with Marshmallow. My phone still works great I get 4.5 hours of screen on time. Hearing that some are getting real bad battery life with 8.0 is worrying to hear!

Battery life is fine here. Each time there is an update it takes a day or so for all apps, etc., to update. Battery life is always iffy after a big update. Let is sit for a couple of days before deciding to back something out.

Battery is fine for me.
