Android Oreo mouse features

My phone received the Oreo update a week ago. I must say I am very disappointed.

I have the Pixel XL. I use a power wheelchair and the joystick on my chair has a Bluetooth mouse feature. When I switch to that mode, a cursor shows on the phone and I can click, etc. using my joystick. It has been great and very easy to use for the last several versions of Android. However, with this version, here are the issues so far:

  • When I drag to scroll a list (in Hangouts, for example) the list jumps to the top when I scroll too far.
  • I can no longer "long click." So I can't use the notification dots or reposition icons.
  • The mouse will not work at all on the Google search widget.
These seem like small issues, but I have gotten used to using my phone a lot for my job and my business. Using my joystick is the only way I can physically use my phone.

I am a software developer and my job focuses on accessibility. Is there someone at Google I can contact? Or are they phasing out mouse support?

Thanks for listening!

I have no idea, and I doubt that anyone else reading the forum does either. But you could try writing to Google's CTO and asking. (The address should be available somewhere online, or you could try the reference desk at your public library.
