Android OS battery drain with 4.4.2

I use a Samsung Galaxy S4 and i have the same problems. After 2 hours my battery is at 70%. With GSam i see that the drain is in Kernel (Android OS) 40,2%. But i can't see the exact process because within this kernel there are +100 processes :(
I think i go downgrade to the version before because i must charge twice a day :(

I went into the Android Recovery Mode by Press and hold Home + Volume up button + Power button to enter the device. After that i swipe and factory reset/restore the 4.2.2 firmware.
You just lost everything and need to config the Phone all over. So beware and Backup all your things via Google, SD etc.
It looks like my device is working normal. I now going to load the battery to 100% and tomorrow i test the capacity.
But i played now 3hr with my phone and the battery power is still good. So it's hopeful :)

Regards

Android OS is routinely 40% or more of my battery on my Nexus 7. What's strange is that I've tried several custom ROMs and it's the same thing on all of them.

Found another culprit for battery drain / high device awake ratio. If you have location settings set to 'Battery saver', but spend a lot of the day with wifi off, make sure that 'Scanning always available' on the Advanced Wifi Settings is unchecked. For me this results in reduced Android OS battery drain and a big reduction in time held awake as reported by GSam. I'm not rooted so can't get more precise wakelock info under KitKat, but my hunch is this is reducing the NLP (Network Location Provider) wakelocks. I've also got Location Reporting and Location History unchecked. Apps needing location data seem to be working just fine.

It might not even be 4.4.2
I'm on 4.3 and my phone is down to 66% after only 5 hours. About 30 minutes of screen time

my phone is on 4.2.2 and last night i noticed it heating up and burning through 1 percent battery per minute. This is with battery saving turned on, and WiFi and mobile data turned off. The Power Usage gizmo revealed that Android System had accounted for 85% of the 35% of battery power my phone had burned through and had done so in 55secs! I have a new phone that I'm aware has a suspect battery life (HTC one xl LTE version) but that kind of battery drainage had me about to dig out the receipt to return the phone. Then I noticed Auto Syncing was enabled. Since turning that off,my phone's battery life has returned to it's normal inadequate battery life. Android System is still accounting for over 50% usage though.

Personally I'm hoping KitKat well get rolled out to my phone, but I'm doubtful it will anytime soon since 4.2.2 is a recent upgrade.

Interesting reading these, I recently upgraded from cm10.2 (4.3.1) to cm11 (4.4.2) to find I have really good battery life I've found with the same use I had before that it'll last about 36hours where as I would need to charge nightly prior to 4.4.2!

Other thing is I had a battery saving app which seemed to work ok on 4.3.1 but doesn't on 4.4.2. Hence I uninstalled and get the before mentioned life.

How are you guys un installing the update? I need help on how to do this because my battery life now sucks on my htc one.

Sorry Andriod 4.4.2 is suffering a coding that make the cpuprocess more faster and smoother.but Goole did not know that it taking alot of barttey up so it miht take 4 more weeks for next update !

Updated my GS4 this morning and definitely burned through 60% of battery within just a few hours. Not only that though, plugging it on the OEM charger, anyone else notice it takes longer to charge now? Normally what only takes my S4 maybe 2.5 hours to fully charge has now taken almost all afternoon and it's still not 100%. This is really annoying.

Are you using MS exchange email by any chance? There is a known issue in kitkat with exchange services draining battery.

When I got my SG4, I immediately upgraded to 4.4.2 and found that the battery life was terrible. I would lose 40% in just 6 hours.

I took the suggestion from Ilia1986 that the drain is caused from Google Play Services, I disabled it and found that my battery life immediately improved, however, it stops two applications from working correctly, namely: Google Account Manager and Google Maps.

I disabled Google maps and re enabled Google Play Services. From a full charge, with no phone calls and light internet browsing. My battery life decreased by 30% over roughly 24 hours.

tl;dr:
Google Maps was causing my battery drain.

I am just noting my drain pain as well. I have the S4 and used to go 2-1/2 days between charges. (It gets light usage). Now I can't even make it 24 hours.

My week old Note 3 is having this issue hardcore with KitKat upgrade. FIX THIS GOOGLE!!!

I noticed a huge battery loss on upgrading but on a whim I disabled the facebook app and it has gotten a lot better. Facebook was always a bit of a hog on jelly bean, but nothing like on kitkat. My battery drain is still worse then with jelly bean, but much better now that I've ditched the facebook app.

Never had issues with it draining battery. It does use push notifications. Maybe it was triggering the camera bug?

Battery drain is terrible! I consider myself a power user, and get about 4 to 6 hours per charge.

But I bought this:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00D5...ag=hawk-future-20&ascsubtag=UUacUvbUpU3535966
And it defiantly gives me longevity.

I am addicted to 2 things: battery power and wireless speed.

Probably worth mentioning that I am just recommending this product, no relation to Anker other than a customer.
