'Android OS' draining battery after updated to 4.4.2

I got the update a few days ago and noticed my RazorM phone battery is dying quicker now also. I read about uninstalling skype to fix the problem but I don't even have Skype and never have had it on this phone. Any other ideas out there/

Honestly, the more negative crap I read on message boards from those who have nothing but issues - the more I realize that most of it is just due to the user.

I'd heard such poor things about it and it was like the sky is falling, but at the end of the day, KitKat seems to be a major improvement over JellyBean, in every respect. Nothing has changed in the UI or how the OS reacts / works. It's only better than it was before and battery life is killer!

Your posts are all so incredibly condescending.

These people who have problems have all used smartphones before and noticed a difference after the update. I'm not saying the update is broken for everyone, but if we're all using our phone the exact same way before and after the update and see a drastic change in performance, then the signs point to an issue with the update, not the user.

Well, I guess you are just Lucky, but your luck doesn't help me much. I have a Droid Razr Maxx HD that has been giving me about 48 hours plus of use per charge. I actively use the phone somewhere between two to three hours a day, and when the two days were up, I usually had 10-20% left on battery.

Now that I have 4.42, the battery drains flat in approximately 24 hours. The usage ratio before KK was, roughly, Screen:60%, Android OS:30%. The usage ration after KK:Screen:30%, Android OS:60%. My guess from reading various posts is that there is some app that influences the OS and causes bad battery drain. I have been using a Battery Save mode between 11PM and 6AM, and it doesn't increase battery life at all!

Are you using a Samsung Note 3? Do you still have the same average battery life? Did you note the ratio of Screen and Android OS before update?

I am really enjoying the new stuff in KK, but something that worked fine before is broken. I have two apps that were definitely broken by KK, but that is probably to be expected. They didn't affect battery life, just didn't work correctly.

Note 3 and I have not noticed any difference in screen and Android OS between the before and after. I would download GSAM and try and drill down on the app that's causing your battery drain.

Problem is you can't do anything when it's Android system.

For the record Android system on mine is always 25-28%

However it doesn't stop my phone from lasting from 5am till 11pm.when I'm at work if I was at home most of the day it tends to last 1 day and a half.

Not sure about that...and it is possible that it's due to some other app, but GSAM will give the poster a better idea as to what's causing the drain. There has to be a logical explanation as to why it drains more on some Note 3's compared to others. It's not hardware related IMO.

Nope mine is better running 2 days heavy use

How did you fix it? I installed Battery Doctor and it keeps coming back to Android as the major battery drain. now I have a Galaxy s3 but not the 9300 but the 710 model. I miss my 9300 but my kid stepped on it with the heel of her boot. Crunch. Any way, I cant find a ssystem folder or a bin folder after a guru told me to rename a file there. Please help! Batt lasts overnight on standby but has 13% by 7 am. Lucky I have a wall charger and a second battery bought on eBay. I kept the battery from my 9300 and bought the battery charger for $3.75. that also helps me get around the charge port issue because I was struggling to be able to charge my phone. I'm telling you I'm thinking of switching to Apple next tired of all the problems and b*******
