He left it unplugged with the screen off and nothing running. If you notice, android os is the only thing on the usage list. Now go look at yours. Of course you can make the phone last that long on standby.

I doubt he actually unplugged it 258 days ago. Obviously it's a bug, even with nothing running Android OS is never going to be the only battery drain. There would still be "Phone idle," "Google services," "Cell standby," and Android system" using up even a small percentage of the battery
