Hi all. Sadly my Mum has Alzheimer's. There is a chance in the future she goes wandering on her own. If she does I want to able to find where she has walked to.

Can anybody recommend an easy and free to use phone tracker that will not massively drain the battery all the time?

Another question. I have turned on location s sharing on my mums phone. What do I need to do on my phone in order to track/locate where my Mums phone is?

Did you choose your contact on her phone to share from within Google Maps setting hit her profile upper right in maps

Assuming your mom's phone has you as the contact that it's sharing location with, then on your phone, open Google Maps, tap your profile icon at the upper right, then Location Sharing, and select her at the bottom. You should see her located on your map. Be aware that if her phone is off, ran out of battery, or is on certain battery-saving modes, it might not update location properly.

Thank you all.

I have now go it working. I can now see my Mum's location on my map. As you all know I got sent a text message with a link to google maps. Is there any way to save that in my maps app?

Sorry, I'm not clear on what the text message is about -- was this related to Location Sharing?

You can easily save a location in Google Maps by scrolling horizontally through the buttons associated with the location (i.e., the Directions, Start, Call buttons) until you find the Save button (with a bookmark icon). You can then save it to any of the main pre-made lists (Starred Places, Want to Go, Favorites, Travel Plans) or create your own list: https://support.google.com/maps/answer/3184808?hl=en&co=GENIE.Platform=Android
