Android Phone Reccomendations

Okay, I'm a BlackBerry user but want to give android another chance. Last android phone was Samsung S2 and it was a good device.

So, I am going to ask, which Android device has the best Battery life for someone who sits on their phone for hours typing documents, posting on forums, surfing the web and listening to music.

A few things I didn't like about android compared to BBOS and BB10 are:

No Unified notification centre.
Can't play youtube in the browser and do other stuff at the time time, youtube just stops playing when you minimize the browser.
Compared to iOS and BB10 all mobile touch screen keyboards are hell.
Android lacks the notification LED. Trust me, once you have one and go without one, it sucks.

So, im looking to see what android phone can do those things mentioned above. Im not one for downloading a ton of apps, themes and launchers. However I do like the look of stock lollipop best and would like to be able to remove whatever OEM launcher the OEM throws on their (Sense, Touchwhiz, ect)

I know most to all android phones, bt want to know peoples personal opinions and battery life.

Note 3/4 Seems best because I would want a huge screen. Loved the Super AMOLED of my 5 inch Z30.

If I can't find what I'm looking for i'll just get me a trusty Classic.

From my experience, the best ones would be a Samsung device. Based on some of the items you listed above, I was going to suggest a Note series. The Note comes with a stylus which will aid you with office needs.

I had the S3 at one point and time and hated the battery life. I vowed I would never go back to Android after that and remained with Apple. Then I decided to try the Note 3 model and loved the device and the battery life was excellent. I wound up getting a Note Edge which in some ways reminds me of the Blackberry Touch but bigger. In between the Note 3 and the Note Edge, I did try out the Motorola Moto X but the battery life was as concern and I also found myself tinkering with the device to make the battery last the entire day.

No Unified notification centre.

The swipedown Notification Panel acts as a sort of unified notification center, since all notifications for apps will show up here. You can then tap on any one of them to act on it.

Playing it in the background apparently violates the terms of service of the YouTube API. Viral Popup used to be able to do this, but the app page now says, "background play removed from this app due to Terms service of API ."

Give Fleksy Keyboard a try. You can type horribly, and it will guess the word you meant quite accurately.

Many Android phones have a notification LED. It can also be customized using apps like Light Flow.

I realize that you said you would rather avoid installing too many 3rd party apps, but that kind of defeats the purpose of the Android system. I look at Android as being a good foundation, but one of the great strengths is the ability to customize your phone's functionality and appearance by using 3rd party apps.

ive been reading the nexus 6 barley gets 4 hours with heavy usage.

If by heavy usage you mean using the phone almost constantly, with the screen always on, I'd venture that no phone will give you much more than 5 hours, maybe 6 if you have a lot of battery saving options turned on.

But OP needs a notification LED, so I guess note 4 would be the best option.

Stick with BlackBerry if you type a lot. Virtual keyboards are a pain in the neck. I regret returning the Q10 because Skype didn't work in China.
