Android Q is great.... But no apps can access my gallery.

All the camera lag and shutter lag that I have experienced since day one with my 3XL is 100% solved with the new Q Beta 2.... It's amazing!

The only real bug I've encountered is that none of my video editing apps can recognize videos on my phone. That is, when I want to add a video clip I took on my camera, the editing app will see the folder (and even show a thumbnail of the videos within the folder) but when I click on the folder, it thinks that the folder does not contain media and it shows it as empty.

I have installed three or four different video editing programs and they all act the exact same way. I have a feeling that it's some sort of new permission that's unchecked somewhere within that new Q settings. Any ideas?

Thanks!

The Android Central Podcast actually hit on this exact topic this week. I don't recall exactly what it was called but there's a new storage scheme where each app can have its own "sandboxed" data, and request permissions for a common data area (such as for gallery). Apps not yet designed for the Q developer preview will not access the shared space.

And we wonder why they say not to use the beta or DP on your every day carry device...

Oh, no... I'm aware, this isn't my only phone, lol.

I heard of the new scheme, just wasn't sure if there were toggle options within it...

Thanks!

If I understand the explanation by Jerry, the app needs to support Q in order to prompt you to allow access to that storage location.

Several threads about this are already shared here in the forums - just go to Settings->Apps and then select your app->Permissions and grant permissions accordingly. This is the workaround for the beta 2.

I've read the same, enable storage permissions for you gallery and camera apps.

It works perfectly now after disabling the new scoped storage scheme.
