Android setup: screen too dim

During Android setup, that is the first set of prompts when you start using a new device, the screen is too dim.

I find it very hard to see, especially during the daytime.

How can the brightness be adjusted during this phase ?

Happens to be an LG G6, but it doesn't really matter. There is no brightness slider during setup.
I'm really hoping google pays attention to this. With all their noise about accessibility, they screwed up bad on this one.

This is a long shot, but perhaps if you plugged your phone in to charge it, the screen may light up and become brighter, even temporarily?

Actually, if I take a flashlight and shine it near the screen, it fools the device into making the screen brighter. So, I can work around this. BTW, plugging in had no effect on this device.

But, what will it take to get google to fix this !!!

This would more likely be an LG issue, not a Google issue. But make sure the ambient light sensor isn't blocked, and that the glass overlying the sensor isn't dirty. The light sensor is usually right near the front-facing camera.

Your using any screen protector, or case that could be blocking the proximity sensor?

No screen protector. After running through the setup I discovered it had initialized itself at 26% brightness and "auto," probably netting somewhere around 10% of its max. Every device I've initialized has been too dim, but this has been the worst.

Why can't google change the init to include a screen brightness adjuster ?

Does the dimness continue on Auto Brightness after you've finished setup? If so, I still suspect a problem with the phone's ambient light sensor or its firmware. I can't comment specifically on why the screen brightness slider isn't available during the Setup Wizard, but I'd guess it's because they want to make sure the user stays within the Wizard until setup is done, rather than potentially exit out of it into the system settings.

Strange , every device I have didn't run into this before . It's hard to say what's happening with yours especially we can't physically see it

Well, all devices automatically set screen brightness to some particular level, and I presume that level is determined by code from the manufacturer. Probably the setting is reasonable for most people on most devices. This particular device may be an exception.

However, I believe it's google's fault that there is no UI to adjust the brightness during initial setup. How can this request be brought to their attention ?

I really think this needs to be addressed to google, not LG. It's the lack of a brightness contro during initial setupl that I'm addressing, which I believe is google's design. Thanks.

Your welcome! Thats why I put it in lg Forum to see if other users had similar issues.

Could you put it back in "general" ? Perhaps someone will know how to notify google. Or maybe someone relevant, there, will see it.
