Android sometimes not receiving text messages

[Android Central Question]

I sometimes got the problem with one android phone that it not receives plain old short text massages. That means no notification (no vibration/audio/toast ) and not displayed in the history of that contact.

I would like to know what that could be and how to investigate.

The environment:
Nokia 5 (TA-1053)
Android 7.1.2
Baseband: MPSS.JO.3.0-00365-8937_GENNS_PACK-1.115512.1
Location: Austria (in the middle of Europe)
Provider: “YESSS “

Symptoms:
Sometimes (not always) the phone does not receive text messages
Then there are no notifications: no vibration/audio/toast.
It is not displayed in the message history/conversation of the sending contact.
There is indication that THIS message was sent (the message before and after is displayed).

On the sending phone the text message is visible in the message conversation for the contact.

Started Analysis:
I couldn’t see any special content in the not received short text message:
most: Basic ASCII text, no special characters, no Emjois.
Rare: Basic ASCII text + special characters + Emjois

As sending phones different have already seen (maybe more):
- Nokia Lumia 930 & Windows Phone 8 & Provider: HOT (*)
- Nokia Lumia 630 & Windows Phone 8 & Provider: TeleRing
- Huawei Andoid & ??? & ???

(*): for that provider I check the connection records and found the text message was recorded -> so it was actually sent.

The frequency of occurrence is not too high … would say 2-4 times a week. But as you don’t know that it happens …

Currently I don’t know what to check or investigate to find out more about the problem.

Haha no, signal is fine.

I'd also check with your carrier (not the sender's) to see if there are any known network issues.

I received no confirmations for network issues - but usually that results just in delays - and as the message before and after are received without a problem.
