Android system usage question

For several days both my EVO and my son's Evo showed android system usage in the 45-55 percent range of battery usage. Battery life during g that time was less than normal. Today and yesterday usage is back to a much smaller percentage. Any ideas as to why the discrepancy? Also phones have been wonky in my area for several weeks. Texting a pic twxt issues across carriers. Network signal strength is poor at best lately...

Could be a hundred different reasons...but based on what you're saying it could be the phone's radio constantly searching for a signal. Do you keep your LTE on all the time?
