Android tablet won't increase battery but plugged in

my 4.4 tablet won't increase its battery when plugged in yesterday, I charged it in the morning and it's 50%, and I stopped charging in afternoon and it's still at 50. The tablet says that it was charging but doesn't even increase the percentage.

Cable probably.. Test all your cables after installing Galaxy Charging Current free. On my rooted device I could achieve 2000 mA while a brand new cable off eBay would only put 400mA through. These cheap cables are just that 30% less wires I have been told.

What kind of tablet, and how old is it? Could be the battery has bad cells and needs to be replaced.
