Android Town - social community application

I grabbed the update earlier and it cranked right up and seems to be working pretty good. There are two others with in 20 miles of me that have run it.

Edit: I'm dumb, I forgot I had disabled the GPS option in the settings the last time I used the app. The location is working. :)

Future support items:

A pref to select between Miles and KM.

Location based on WiFi access point. Once the location of the AP has been found then the next time the user is at that location the app can show where the user is at w/o the need to access the GPS radio.

Hey,

a switch between metric and US units is on the way, yes.
Wifi locations could be a way to save battery, which is always a good thing.

Btw, any of you have any problems after the update? There's a comment on the market about the app force closing after the update and I'd like to see what's going on.

No force close but I did have an issue last night that was keeping my phone from going to sleep. Tinker Tools showed it was something called 1013 but when I would click on it TT would crash. I'm not sure if AT is to blame since my phone is new and I've been playing w/ other apps. The issue went away after a reboot.

One thing I've noticed that's a little aggravating is in the settings I have to click submit to update the settings vs other apps where I just go back after making my changes. Also the keyboard pops up as soon as ya go into the settings which obscures the rest of the settings. They are minor things though.

Thanks for the suggestions.
Keyboard is a bit annoying, I agree, and submitting settings without needing to push a button shouldn't be too hard to do as well.

Thanks again for the time you put in.

I know this probably isn't a good time for feature requests, but I think there should be a place in your profile to put your social contacts. For instance twitter etc.

Feature requests are always welcome :) Links to social profiles are definitely on their way. There will probably also be a sort of integration with other social networks...at least a FB status or your latest tweet, which would show when someone clicked on you.

've developed a sort of a mobile social community app and I'm asking if you guys would like to test it a bit.

Like I said, it's a social community app which is location based. Basically you can communicate through the app with users nearby. Either message them, send them a picture, add them as friends, block them...

The application is supported by a Android Town website as well.
You can fill out your profile there, get the latest version of the app, spend time on the forums or just check on the app's development.

You can get the application here or on the website.

Thanks for trying it out.

Just joined up! Looks like it has some potential. Lets get this ball rolling!

One weird thing I had happen was after installation of this app my media volume went down to about half volume even when it showed it was at full volume? Weird I know and I have no clue why it would do it, but after uninstalling this app my media volume went back twice the volume playing the same podcast in the same spot. Not sure if it's this app or a mix of apps I have or what was going on?!

Nice thing about being in the Silicon Valley is that there are always plenty of early adopters... but I guess that this is such a new app, I see that there are only 3 others nearby that also are using the app... well, hopefully soon it will be more!

i like the concept of this, and hope it will get a lot more users soon!

Very cool app sent the info to my friends and they installed as well. Couple of questions though. How do you delete notifications? When I try to send a picture I can take the picture and then nothing happens. Device is a Moto Droid, rooted, running Bugless Beast v1.0

I'm in Minnesota, I know I'm not the only Android user around here, I think it's time I got the old bat-signal out and re-tuned it to show "Andy" up in the night sky.
