Android Tracking App?

Hi everyone

I can't find any answer to my specific question in the searches.

My father in law is getting dementia and we basically need an free app to track his location when he goes out occasionally.

Requirements:
• A free and simple app that we can track him from another device
• Real-time location so that when he goes out in that moment, we can track him
• Always on enabled i.e. he doesn’t need to manually turn it on as he will forget.


That’s really about it, does Google find my phone’s inbuilt feature offer this?

Life 360 can do this easily. They will nag you to upgrade to a paid subscription now and then, but the free version does everything you mentioned.

Of course if he leaves his phone behind, then no app will help.

It works pretty well for me, but it also depends on the health of the phone of the person you're tracking. If that person's phone battery dies, or if it goes into power-saving mode, it might not actively share location.
