Android tv box - APPS / Play Store query

Hi all,
Would really appreciate some basic advice. Using the Android tv box M8 quad core box, I'd like to put more apps / short cuts on the home screen/main page. I don't want to go into the Apps folder each time to open an app. These are the apps downloaded from play store.
Any ideas please.
