Android update failed

My phone notified me it was ready for a Android software update last night. I clicked ok, and let it do its thing for about a half hour. It reset and was ready to go again, but when I tried to use the phone it says "UID's on the system are inconsistent. you need to wipe your data partition or your device will be unstable".

I cannot use my internet, all my contacts were lost, all my apps are not working- they are all being forced closed.

Any home remedies other than a factory reset (and if thats the only option, how do I do that? Will the Verizon store be able to do anything? I have done nothing special with the phone such as rooting or anything like that.

Does your incredible have the circle button under the touchscreen, or do your capacitive buttons rotate with the phone?
