Can I somebow upgrade from my Android 4.0.1 version to a higher version (at least 4.1 or higher?)

have you tried samsung kies? if it isnt showing a new update, check sammobile.com and the firmware section. kies should tell you about the new firmware too. the latest may be 4.1, but there is also 4.4 in some regions. you may also try to install the firmware from other region using odin on pc (but check the compatibility at first, bands etc.) i did it to my n8000 with a german firmware because it took over 6months before they released the firmware for our region... anyway, check kies at first.
