I discovered last night that it doesn't work for me when the phone is plugged into the standard home charger, but does work when it is charging via USB connection to my computer - seems odd there would be a difference. I'm pretty bummed out about it since I wanted to use it as a bedside clock but with the very bright popup screen I can't.

Edit/update: Scratch what I said about it working on computer connected USB, it shows 100% charge for quite a while but then it finally pops up there too - so it just doesn't work at all, maybe just delay the popup but I'm not sure about that.

I'm confused.
I have my battery popup disabled and the popup no longer comes up nor does my screen turn on when fully charged.

I'm using Caffeine to keep my screen on when plugged in - would that make a difference? When I first though it was working I saw my charge go to 100% with no popup for quite a while, but later (not sure how much later but maybe an hour) I looked again and the popup was there.

Edit/update: I deactivated Caffeine and recharged using the standard home charger with the Bedside app running and its screen stay-awake setting enabled, and the popup displayed about 5-10 minutes after the charge reached 100%.

Yeah, I don't know what I'm doing but my popup is completely disabled.

I don't think root has anything to do with it.
SU permissions are not required to modify these settings.

Perhaps it's due to an application loaded on the device changing the sleep/wake settings.

I guess I don't have a definitive answer.

Hi ... After seeing Cory's post with the additional menus.. and most of them having "words" associated with them.. I went back through all of the others that we just have numbers for, and found these associated words..

This may make some of them easier to "remember" without requiring you to remember a 10 digit number:

These are just translations of information already above... no new findings here.

*#83786633 -> *#testmode

*#28346# -> *#audio#

*#DATA*727336*# -> *#DATA*screen*#

*#0228# -> *#0bat#

*#0842# -> *#0vib#

*#0673# -> *#0MP3#

There's still a few number-combinations that I can't figure out the word equivalent for...

Thanks TripSixes!

I used the word for the code if I knew it, and didn't even bother trying to figure out what the other codes might stand for. So thank you for that. I should update my original Epic dialer code post and add those in. They seem like reasonable names for those codes to me. :)

Is the MSL # specific to device or similar to the SPC and the same for everyone?

Sprint:

SPC = Service Programming Code, MSL = Master Subsidy Lock. The SPC/MSL are 6 digit numbers used to unlock the hidden programming menus on a handset. The SPC is used to unlock and program a handset the first time it is removed from the box. It used to be that either yourself, or a Sprint employee, depending on who was activating the phone, would enter this # via the dial pad, in order to program the phone the first time. The SPC is still used, but programming is done OTA, so you would never see it. The SPC is only good one time. After that, you use the MSL code to access the programming menus. That's where Sprint and Verizon differ. On Sprint, both the SPC and MSL are generated using an algorithm that considers the ESN as part of the calculation. Since some of the menus we are discussing here, require the MSL, you will have to obtain that information from Sprint. I haven't been following Epic developments as much, but sometimes savvy developers release programs you can that will extract and display your handsets MSL code, in order to avoid having to ask Sprint, who is understandably resistant to give out this information. One method I've used in the past to get Sprint to cough this up, is to call technical support and tell them my phone isn't working with the OTA activation and that I need to program it manually. They will then give you instructions on manually programming it, and in the process they end up giving you your MSL.

Verizon:

They too use SPC and MSL codes. The difference is that they are the same for every handset. The value is always 000000.

For the purpose of this discussion, the MSL and SPC codes are being used for the same reason, and that's to access the handsets programming menus.

Apparently that's it. If I disable apps that keep the screen on (Caffeine & Bedside) it seems to work, but if the screen is being kept active by one of those apps it still pops up. Unfortunately since I want Bedside to display the time at night while on the charger I'm still looking for a fix for the battery charged popup.

I must be a moron, I can't get get it to get into test mode at all and I'm entering the codes exactly as told, any suggestions?

So you are doing this exactly the way it is spelled out? I've highlighted a few things that you possibly missed.

Go into the Dialer and enter *#83786633 then press the Home key
Go back into the phone dialer (clear first code) and enter *#22745927
Now a box will come up asking for the SPC code. Enter 000000
Press the Hiddenmenu Enable radio button.

Yea, I've followed those exact directions. I've tried it plugged in, not plugged in, debug mode on and off, usb plugged in and unplugged, yet when I put in the second code nothing happens at all

I am rooted also

Thanks in advance for your help

Has anyone been able to figure out the sidetone yet? I'm hoping a codec can fix it otherwise I might have to exchange the phone. Its getting annoying.

Same here, not the moron part though. ;p
When I enter the first code and hit home and come back in I don't have to clear the first code. When I enter the second code it just sits there.

I've made a very conscious effort to try and listen for sidetone in recent days.. and I can't tell at all that that it exists on my phone. I haven't done anything to try and resolve it, so either my phone doesn't have it, or, I simply can't hear it.

was really wanting to help out.. sorry.
