Anyone else notice this? Doesn't seem to matter if I'm on 3G or Wi-fi, stock of Dolphin browser

The homepage is pretty huge. It can take up to about 20 seconds to fully load on my DX via Wi-Fi. Have you tried using the mobile version? m.androidcentral.com?

ha I didn't even try that, I'd been using m.mobilitybeat.com/site/android-central

Mobile version 12sec full sight 41sec
8sec full sight on opera. I'm driving in middle no where.

WiFi: full site is 13 seconds for me using Dolphin on a rooted phone with Adblock installed. Adblock might be the key.

It seems like these "Smartphone Experts" communities would be able to autodetect a mobile browser and serve up the mobile version automatically.

I thank its up to forum owner. Case in point crackberry mobile is not as good as AC. I think it has to be the software that runs the forum engine.es.

Got the full site on 3G in 22 seconds after a wipe (cookies, cache, history, etc.). Without wiping, it loaded the site in 10 seconds. Haven't tried it on Wifi yet but of course I expect it to be faster.

Some people like that and others hate it. The best thing to do would be to set a bookmark to the mobile version of the site/forums: m.androidcentral.com and m.forum.androidcentral.com.

Correct. 2 totally different backends.

That works great, until you click a link from the AC Twitter stream and it takes you to the full version.

I don't even bother clicking the links until I'm back at a computer and then I chuckle that it's easier to view a website about mobile devices on a computer than it is on a mobile device.

It's so much easier, from an end user standpoint, to disable the mobile theme if I prefer the full version instead of forcing me to use special URLs if I prefer a mobile version. That's my opinion, anyway. BGR gets it.
