Several weeks ago, the first thing that appears on my screen in the morning is the androidcube.mobi notification to install the "android upgrade" that would allow me to "read news faster." Until the other day, I just backed from the notification, but since it continued appearing every morning, I finally decided to click on "Install" and was redirected to install Smart News. Still, the notification shows up every morning. I searched my phone and seven "androidcube.mobi" items exist with the Chrome logo, but there appears no way to get rid of them.

Any suggestions?

It sounds pretty fishy to me. Uninstall all of those apps if you can. The nag popup could be part of some adware that you unwittingly installed along with some other app, so if it keeps showing up after you've uninstalled all of those androidcube apps, then you may have to keep uninstalling other apps until the popups go away.

At this point, I've cleared the Chrome cache and data, and will see what happens tomorrow. I also ran Malwarebytes and Avast, and they found nothing.

BTW, searching my phone for androidcume.mobi, I also find a Prosper202 login screen, but I don't know where it came from or what the username and password are.

Well, well, well, despite none of the anti-malware apps finding anything, suddenly the problem was gone, who knows how or why.

Got to be more careful these days, malicious software is getting more and more sophisticated every day. Before you do anything or agree to anything you're not certain of I'd consult this site. Lots of knowledgeable people here.

Hey Simon et al., I'm having the same issue on my Tab 3. And like you, I have just been backing out and ignoring and X'ing out of the warning screen that still appears once you get rid of the pop-up. As it's becoming more and more frequent though, I googled it yesterday and found your discussion of the issue (thank you for that btw). So I followed Simon's lead and immediately went and cleared all cache and data in Chrome hoping that would do it, but alas, I just got one again and I don't have anything kooky open, just Google and a well known retailers site. I also went into Settings and cleared the cache for everything, which I do anyway almost daily and despite these 2 actions, it's still happening. I will admit I am pretty (extremely?) inept when it comes to technology period, let alone troubleshooting, and I saw your mention of searching your system and finding it referenced in 7 other places on Chrome apps, and embarrassingly, I don't know how to check this but it sounds like it solved your problem so I caved, and am writing in to admit my ineptitude and ask how to perform this search so I can minimize the # of apps to uninstall. Hopefully. Any suggestions, assistance or direction is sincerely appreciated. Thanks everyone, Katie B.

Androidcube.mob and Ads popping up. HELP!!

Can someone help with the androidcube.mobi issue? It used to be only in the morning the screen would pop up but now it is 3-4 times a day. I also have a screen pop up that says "Free Gift click here" but I dont click so it just does it for me. UGH. Then it takes me to Clash of Clans to install or to Candy Crush to install. I have a Samsung Note 4 and its only 2 months old. I have yelled from the rooftops about the awesomeness of this phone and I loved it. But now these things keep popping up really often. You grab your phone to catch a picture of your child and then Wham you have to mess with all this nonsense, so by then the moment to catch the perfect photo is gone.

Re: Androidcube.mob and Ads popping up. HELP!!

I have taken many many apps off my phone hoping I would find the one that brought it. All I have left is facebook, instagram, pinterest and kindle. Surely those are ok. I just was sitting here typing with my phone right beside me and a call that said "unknown caller" popped up. While it was ringing the "just for you gift" announcement popped up and connected me to Game of Thrones. So frustrating

install Message says:

Caveat

Please upgrade your battery module"

The message has buttons for installation, and uses the Google "Play Store" logo at center/top of page. Looks legitimate/suspicious.

I got the message a about one week after installing the Uber ride sharing application.

Hey all,.needless to say, same issues here. I have an AT&T SGS5 That I've had since June '14, so almost a year now. It was actually still on jelly bean when I got it (AT&T being painfully slow rolling out OS updates) and it was great until about 2.months ago. Out of nowhere the data connection started freaking out, constantly switching between 4g and Wi-Fi every 20-30 seconds, even when I was home on my personal network,. Anyway, long story short, I was advised to go to Best Buy and have them update my phone's OS, which I did (finally got kitkat despite AT&T not initiating or offering the update.) Didn't help, turned of smart switch - bingo! 1 problem solved and a couple weeks later I'm dealing w this one. So I'm here trying to rule out some possible culprits.
#1- I didn't have this issue prior to the kitkat update and I haven't seen any info to necessarily rule out this version of the OS as being the instigator, so I was wondering if any of y'all experiencing this issue are still on kitkat ?
#2- I'm using the newest version of GO Launcher, which quite a few of these pop-up 's /recommended apps seem to be offerings from the same company that created Go Launcher(though I've been using Go Launcher for at least 2- 2.5 yrs and have never experienced anything like this before) Are any of y'all using Go Launcher?
#3 Do any of y'all use the Copyleft free mp3 downloader app? The time frame seems to possibly coincide with when I downloaded the original Copyleft app and it's "updated"version.
Any info would be great, I'm hoping that by calling out A few specific suspects, we can maybe find the common denominator?

Im having this issue on my Galaxy S5. Here's the thing...
#1- I never had this issue when I was on kitkat, im now on lolipop.
#2- I'm not using any third party launchers.
#3- I've never used the app you listed.

So basically back to square 1. My phone has been doing this for about 2 weeks probably and now my boyfriends phone just started doing it 2 days ago. Ive cleared the browser cache and data, as well as running various malware/ virus scanner apps such as Lookout, anti-malwarebytes, AVG, and AVAST all with nothing being found. I also ran Airpush detector and it came up clean. I'm getting 3 different popups.

I'm getting all the same errors you are showing here. Samsung 3 - I think it may be attached to something with GoSms and the themes.

Possible solution!

I had similar problems but no information anyone else gave matched my situation.

Apps only detect known Adware/Malware/Trojan/Viruses. If something new has been created they won't find it.

I had web pages open themselves only on Google Chrome. First one used Google Play name and logo said my battery needed to be updated. Second one was a Facebook advertisement that I had been chosen to receive a prize. Third one also used Google Play name and logo. I sent feedback to Google with screen shots every time. We all know this is not how Google Play tells us we need to update something. I installed Norton Mobile. When Norton didn't find anything I was concerned because one of the advertisements knew what phone I had and what OS I had installed and was running. I was worried about what other information it could see. I save all my passwords to Google Chrome. I cleared my cache and that didn't solve the problem. I had not updated or installed any apps when this started. So I cleared all my search history, saved passwords, and data from both Chrome and Internet. This seemed to have solved the issue for me.

I'm having the same issue about this androidcube bs! Anyone notice that this all started when Google pushed an update for ANDROID SYSTEM WEBVIEW. (<--look this up) Well others here said to delete cache data etc. from chrome and it works temporarily, but I read if you unistall updates for ASW things should return to normal. ASW is reeking havoc on android devices. So I'll try it and get back on this

Updated: didn't work out for me, still getting this garbage. I even disabled ASWv and chrome and this morning the same thing. Very frustrating! Any other ideas out there?

Smashed my phone with a sledge hammer this morning. I did not have tis problem until system update was performed. This means it is embedded in the code and that is bad news!!!!!!:(:-\:'(

Hello guys. My first time posting to android forums.

I deleted mp3 Downloader from my phone and the problem stopped.

I had this app on an older phone. When I upgraded my phone I put this app on. It's the music app with the green cube. I hope this helps.

Ughh.. same issue...when i read it was from a music app.. I deleted that app and the songs I downloaded from it but same issue happening .. I have a galaxy S6 edge.. I really don't want to factory reset it but it's looking that way..
