Annoying Bug On Marshmallow?

I have noticed lately an annoying bug on my Nexus 6, and will be glad if it can be fixed.

For instance if I open the calculator, then I decide to look at YouTube videos through the YouTube app for 30 minutes to an hour per say, then I decide to text someone afterwards, I hit the back button to back out of the messenger app, and the calculator comes up, and if I continue to hit the back button finally I end up at the home screen.

This is just an example but it never seems to fail, it well bring up the third or fourth app that I used hours before, and its very annoying, small and minor but still annoying. Anyone notice this?

That has occurred on every device I have.
It is like the browser on the PC/Laptop. You surf the Web and keep going to page to page.
You can hit the back button and then see every page you have looked at.
I got into the habit of just pushing the home button when done with whatever I am doing.
Is the app still "open"? Possibly, but it will most likely not be using any resources if it is.

Just my observations.
