Annoying tool bar taking up half of my Galaxy Tab S screen, how can I get rid of it?

Hello,

My 5 year old son was playing on my Tab S recently and when he returned it there was a white toolbar taking up half of the screen. I can't seem to find how to remove it and the only way I can access apps is by pressing the menu option in the right hand corner of the toolbar.

The toolbar has 3 sections you can swipe though - news, social and applications

Any assistance greatly appreciated,
