Another Day... another Delay

Sorry, I didn't mean to turn this into a Android vs. Iphone debate.

I realize that these are electronics, some are going to have issues.

The fact of the matter is, these new devices continue to have issues with GPS, battery life, etc, etc. It leaves something to be desired, and it's certainly frustrating contracting a device for 2-yrs and it not working right as soon as you take it out of the box.

Truth be told, you kind of backed up the iphone argument with the 'rooting' statement. How come these devices are all being rooted within days of purchase? My take on it is that they're not functioning properly and/or at peak performance out of the box, and we're left to 'fix' them on our own... at the cost of a warranty.

Also, I do have apple stores nearby, so that's seemingly a bonus for me. Where do I take my Android when the GPS isn't working? Don't take this the wrong way, I'm actually quite curious who backs these products should I have an issue.

Samsung take it to a verizon store then they ship it to Samsung.... just like you take your iphone to the apple store and they ship it to apple. I have yet had an Apple tech fix something for me without shipping it out

But if i were you i would go with an iphone.

I can't believe this isn't out yet. Really makes me curious as to why there's been such a delay. I tried waiting patiently and eventually had (wanted) to make the jump and went with the TB and an extended battery. I love the phone and other than the poor battery life (rectified with the extended), I have no issues that others have complained about. But I count myself lucky as I never had any issues with either my Moto X or the Fascinate. I do miss the screen and long for the day I can have that kind of color, contrast and sharpness at hand. But I'm a phone whore and I know I'll be there when Sammy releases their next big thing later this year.

I rooted mine so I could have free tethering and full back ups of all my settings. 80% of people don't root their phones. Its just us tech dorks that like to tinker and have more options. I had the phone for 6 months before I even rooted it. But I hear you. Most of the issues you are talking about are 4G issues. You have to jailbreak an Iphone to get it to do similar things like free Wifi etc. Difference is the App for Jailbreak tethering is 20 bucks. Lol. I sell a lot of iPhones though and do recommend them depending on the user.

Your Android? Take it to any Verizon store or retailer. They can get you a replacement that day or next day worst case. FYI - I had the original Droid and now have the Droid 2. Never had a GPS issue.

I can see where you are coming from but having been working with VZW for 8 years I can say they do delay a lot of their phones but its almost always to make sure it is working properly. A lot of companies rush them out then they have a lot of issues. Not to say that all phones work flawlessly out of the box but the delays are usually for the better of the device.

Kinda like that crap Thunderbolt... works flawlessly. Yeah right. I was able to buy a Droid Charge at target tonight...call around to a store that is as uninformed as Verizon if you want a Charge now !

Let us know how that Charge works out for you. Reports I've been reading are saying the same issues with it as the Thunderbolt, except for that the Charge is getting much better reviews in the battery life department.

i might be reading that wrong but you dont have to jailbreak an iphone to get free wifi. unless you mean wifi tethering.

but just like any product they are made for different users the hackers/geeks/and tech savvy people will love android because it never gets stale. iOS is for the people who want the phone to just work when they want to use it and customization pends on the apps you install.

Now i own and use a macbook pro (i like apple products) with a 3 way partion running windows 7 osx and ubuntu just because i like to play with different tech. although this very well is likely to be my last macbook we will see how lion and windows 8 turn out.

And the iphone is a solid device well built device but it is obvious apple and google have polar opposite approaches just like apple and microsoft did. Apple says"put your faith in us and you will get a product that works the best way we see fit", Google goes with the microsoft approach"use one OS and have your choice of hardware and features pending what you need" and they saturate the market with high end low end big and small devices so pending your needs your guaranteed to find a device that fits. Neither is a bad approach but users need to know what they are choosing.
