Another Evo 3d review/video Gigaom.com

The guy mentions that he noticed that the evo 3d is noticeably faster than the sensation. That's definitely a plus.

But I thought we are not supposed to listen to reviews because they are written by biased fanboys.

Who ever said that? I have never seen anyone say anything of the sort. Myself and others have said that you should take reviews with a grain of salt since it is ultimately your decision and reviews are nothing but a persons opinion. If you really want to know how the phone works for you buy it, if it isn't what you expected return within the 30-day period. I personally don't listen to reviews, but I do think about what they have to say since they have the phone, not me.

There are sites that are obviously biased such as Gizmodo and Endaget who are just Koo Koo for apple. Those are the only reviews people have complained about and it isn't about the low scores that they have given either, though it does have a part in some of the hate. They didn't really go over everything and criticized the phone harshly.

They just picked out the flaws and complained about them, and applied even more weight to them than what was really necessary. Gizmodo pretty much said since the 3d is horrible so is the phone. They didn't even really mention anything else. Engadget complained about the camera(for a very long time) and even had the nerve to complain about battery life even though she said she had all radios activated(wifi,4g,3g,gps).:D

The NOOOOB is being sarcastic ... It just seems when people hear a review or part of a review they like, they seem to stick to it heavily ... When they hear a review or part of a review they don't like, the reviewer is being biased ... I know this is factual in many review, which is why I trust certain tech blogs that I feel are unbiased and fare to the product they are reviewing ... I like Phil's philosophy about not reading anyone's reviews before he writes his own and the fact that he actually wants to spend time with the device BEFORE he gives his opinion on any device.

Yup. In fact, as the reviews have been pretty consistently disappointing when compared to expectations, certain people were declaring that we should ignore reviews altogether and simply try ti device for ourselves. But when they hear something they like, it is simply taken as true.

I'm pretty confused...I've only seen 2 bad reviews,Engadget and Gizmodo. What other ones are out there, other than those 2 all other reviews were pretty positive. Laptop magazine even gave it the editors choice award.

Only negative things I've heard consistently about the phone are: the call quality, 3d, and battery life(pretty mixed on this one )

I think the reviews have been disappointing compared to expectations, not compared to, say, an average phone. It's obviously a good phone. I think a lot of us were hoping for something as praised as the Evo 4G was when it was released.

Ok I see where you're coming from. Yea it would have been nice to have all great reviews to boost up the phone, but these reviews are good enough imo. All up to the person using it in the end anyway

I believe Sprint did a total screwup when they named it the Evo 3D .... If they would have named it Evo 2.0 it would have been better ... The 3D was a bonus not a selling point ... The Evo 4G had all kinds of tech leading specs ... The E3D truly is just an upgrade of the Evo 4G.

I tend to agree too that too much emphasis is put into the "3D" portion of the phone. I know it's a big selling feature, but if we were to take that away, I bet there would be a much more positive 'feeling' to the reviews we've read in question. One thing I'm thrilled about it that is seems to be very very fast.

O'well at least Laptop magazine grave it a good review and their editors choice award.

There is no doubt in my mind that if it was called the EVO 2, the reviews would be far different. Most people aren't buying this phone because its 3D. The Sensation received good reviews and this phone does everything that phone does, and quite a few people have said its faster. That's all I had to hear. I already knew what the reviews would look like due to public perception on 3D. What I find funny is the EVO 4g got great reviews, the 3D has improved nearly every aspect of the phone, so you tell me how is this thing not getting favorable reviews? 3D, that's how.

Sprint gambled on "3D" and lost. As good as this phone is..the perception is that it's a gimmick. Most people do not recommend using the 3D because it causes headaches...wait till that goes viral...stick a fork in it.

It's the same technology as in Nintendo's 3DS. That screen suffers all the issues that the reviews talk about from viewing angle to striped bars when you're not looking straight. Haven't seen a mass of viral anti-3DS stuff out there yet. I agree they shouldn't have promoted that as the name of the phone, but they're trying to differentiate themselves marketing wise to the drones of the world. People are hot on 3D right now whether they should be or not. If they'd left that feature off the phone, the EVO 3D would just have been another Android phone with specs that only geeks understand. The 3D feature, for better or worse, lets them get it in the minds of other shoppers that don't do the kind of phone comparison the users of this forum do.
