Another HTC One camera issue

Just a few days ago the camera on my HTC One started playing silly buggers. When I press the camera icon to go to the camera, it locks on to what ever it first sees. I can not move the camera around to target other scenes, it remains locked on to the first thing it sees. To target a specific scene, I have to go out of the camera section, point to whatever I want to take a picture of, then hit the camera icon to enter the camera section and hope it locks on to exactly the scene I want and what it locks on to is usually dark and often blue and sometimes very hard to distinguish what the scene actually is. If I take the picture, the image is ok, albeit not exactly composed the way I would have like it to have been. Just can't move the camera around and take a pic of anything I want as it is locked onto the first thing it saw when I entered the camera section. Anyone had the same problem?

Having run into this yet. Have you tried a hard reset and a possible update with the RUU (depending on yoru carrier and country).

What he said. Also, try using a third party app from the Play Store. See if you can replicate it in a different camera app. If so, it may be the sensor in the phone and if not probably software.

Oddly, I had the same thing happen to me the other day, but hasn't happened since. I just got out of the camera app and then re-opened it, and all was ok. Weird!!!

Thanks guys. I tried a third party app and it was doing the same thing, so I tried a hard reset and it worked. So all is good, except HTC backup failed to backup all that it should have, so I've lost some important info. In any case the hardware is all good, just some glitch occurred with the software. Again, thanks for the input and this may help someone else at some stage.

If it happens again try this first. Go into settings> apps> all> camera> and use force stop. Then reopen the camera to see if its working normal again.

Tried Apps/all force stop...camera still stuck on screen. Will take a photo, but just cannot aim to the place I desire
on the view finder...

Forced phone to stop and restarted and now the camera is working fine again.
